I loved that screensaver. I would sit and watch it navigate the maze for hours.
EDIT: Holy crap, I somehow missed a few pages of posts…

Holy fucking shit yes.
the original settlers first cam out on the AMIGA computers - i think the PC-conversion came out when DOS was used as primary PC-OS. but i’m not sure, maybe '95 was out already.
Only Amiga makes it possible!
If you really miss windows 98 that badly… You can buy a psp 1000, hack it and put windows 98 on it.
But really, I don’t see what’s wrong with XP.
already did
I think my cousin had Windows 3.11. We had to play it through DOS though, I think.
Win 3.11 was more of a fancy graphical shell for DOS than a true operating system anyways. Yeah, it had native applications but it was mostly for Word.
hl1 runs on windows 3.11
Like, the early prototype of HL1 when it still ran on unmodified Quake 1 code?
I dunno but I’m sure if you manage to get directx working you can run hl1
obviously if you have a real 3.1 machine it won’t work but in an emulator the CPU speed is almost unlimited
Also, isn’t HL1 only compatible with 32 bit Windows? Unless there was a 32 bit version of Win 3.11 I’ve never heard about, I don’t think it could even be able to run on it, much less play.
I remember the jungle theme and johnny castaway screensaver. ah those were the days!
They still f-ing exist you know.
I’ve got a really funny joke:
Windows 98 security.
if anyone wants the old 98 screensaver, they can be found here https://www.sendspace.com/file/m1y8bt
Not really related to Windows 98 but
e=mc2 trooper

and so on
Damn, these are really beautiful. I remember playing those two for hours when I was a little kid. I loved the retarded “TOOT-TOOT” Sounds which came up as soon as you builded a harbor. :3
I was still using Windows 98 last year to get some old games running easily. Some games just hate modern machines :’( Good thing we have Windows XP mode now. o wait…
But oh lord, every time I used one of my fancy-pants-brand-new USB ports and Win 98 asked for the installation CD I went nuts. It’s so damn annoying…
OH GON. I first played Age of empires on my 98’! Badass memories.
