From what I’ve hear though, people that shouldn’t have really turned on her did so.
Like Chief Mendez and a few Spartan IIs.
I’m not sure of course, I haven’t read it.

More because she started getting really edgy. The field really isn’t her thing, and there she was, stuck in the middle of the field in Onyx, pondering her guilt. Plus she felt cheated that S-3’s were developed without her involvement, which meant she felt slightly hostile toward them, and even slightly jealous, causing her to behave irrationally toward them. But Mendez spent the years training them, which means he saw the S-3’s as equals even if Halsey disagreed. He wasn’t hostile per se, but more trying to convince Halsey to shape up and lose her grudges. She’s just as human as everyone else.
It really all makes sense. The character development is far superior in Glasslands, imo. You start to see what makes the characters actual people.
Hmmmm and here I am still trying to read Primordium. It’s interesting but dammit it is dry. I think I’m like 50% done?
Wow.
Wow!
WOW!!
I wasn’t actually as pumped as I normally am for a Halo game…until I heard that song.
Goddammit was that good.
To be honest, I dislike the Forerunner trilogy the most. I enjoy them for all the interesting plot details about the universe, but it’s not very enjoyable to go through at times.
A wonderful rendition of a great piece of music. Neil really is awesome.
Um, ok, so I don’t know how most of you will feel about this but…my friend got me to play through most of the Halo 4 leak with him yesterday. I don’t have much feelings about Halo either way, and I wasn’t going to buy it anyway, so I said what the heck and played it. I won’t spoil anything unless asked, and I’m only gonna put my opinion of it below. So…watch out for mildly spoilerly content ahead, I guess. I’ll put it in black text just to be safe.
[COLOR=‘Black’]Anyhow, that said, to me as a non-Halo fan, it felt more or less just like another Halo game. So if you like Halo, I suspect you shan’t be disappointed. I did find that a lot of things seemed to be…heavily inspired by, or perhaps just coincidentally share traits with, other recent games, but most of it was built into the lore anyway, so it doesn’t feel like it’s a ripoff. What I do have to praise the game for are the visuals. The graphics are amazing, and not just by console standards either. I can’t help but wonder what 343 could have done if they had made it for PC. The faces are like LA Noire quality, but it doesn’t seem hardly creepy at all. They seemed to fit in with the rest of the graphics, the majority of which were frankly awesome. The face and body animations are also fantastic IMO, although the mouth animations could have used some more work. The gameplay is very familiar, just with a bunch of new stuff to play with. Nothing terribly inspired, but it does its job in keeping the player interested. All in all I think most if not all Halo fans will be very happy with this game.
Did you play it until the end? If yes is the ending cliffhanger-ish? Or did you pay attention to the story at all?
There’s gonna be a 5 and 6, so… expect a cliffhanger.
I’m really glad to see that facial animations are finally taking bounds forward beyond 2004 quality.
Valve’s bar held up for a while
Well they used Avatar-style facial performance capture… Does that count as cheating?
That still requires a lot of hand keyed clean up.
Yes I did play it, I did pay attention, and surprisingly, it had approximately zero cliffhangers. It seemed quite well wrapped up at the end. It really felt like the epilogue to the series, and gives no indication about where the series might go from here.

Well with Tridyrium’s channel getting taken down, I’m glad this is up there.

Implying that there hasn’t been any better facial animations in games since Half-Life 2?
There’s been stuff that’s technically better, but since valve’s system is pretty simplistic and results in really stylized expression, the other stuff just feels like… jelly, I guess? The motion is all realistic and subtle and all that shit, but the poses are all wrong. The poses are the most important part. The technology has improved, but the methodology has become corrupt. It’s not about realistic motion, it’s about BELIEVABLE expression.
Holy shit that rock camo. That’s… that’s dangerous.
Exactly. There really hasn’t been better facial animation since Half-Life 2. They spent a lot of time studying how emotion is expressed and, as Xalener said, created a methodology for their animation based around the science of facial expression. I think most studios just hand it off to an animator, to mixed results. Or they use some half-baked capture technology a la NA Noire.
They did a really nice job in Halo 4 though.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
