I feel like an idiot not know how to map for HL but...

Could I get some help here?

Could anyone tell me what all those wierd entities are and what they do?
(I know what they are but, I want to know how to configure them in the properties box)

Also, What the heck is Max_Leaf_Faces? :brow:

And lastly, (doesn’t pertain to Hammer) How can I get the music off of the Half-Life CDs. (don’t just give me a download link to a site hosting the actual files. I have a slow internet connection here, so it’ll take forever.) :expressionless:

Thank you for reading,

Joebama

Yeah I need some info, too. I want to make a Source map and I’m too lazy to watch a tutorial D:

Well don’t be.
I all honesty, though, just fuck about, and you’ll figure it out. Ask for help when you have a specific problem.

not looking for info on source games

looking for info for Half-Life 1 and MODS.

i wish that valve would have made a complete article on entities instead of basically a sentence.

Well you DID say hammer, which is for source games…
I think you need Worldcraft. Google it and you’ll find all the help you need.

What does the OP actually want?

hammer can be used for half-life 1 games also.

i’ve tried it.

For the music you’ll need to find a program that can extract binaries.

but what file/folder is the music located in?

I’m trying to get the OP4 music off of the disc.

Can’t remember anymore. I did rip the music from HL2: Ep2 myself though. Think it was in a pretty logical place. Didn’t have to search too long to find it.

fuck

If you’ve figured out how to do this:
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/GoldSource_mapping_in_Hammer_4.x

then you wouldn’t need our help with simple entity logic.

Place CD in CD drive.
Open windows media player.
Click rip CD…

The programming in Half Life makes the game play music files from a cd during certain parts in Half Life. Once you no longer needed to have the CD to play HL, people started hearing music from whatever CD they did have in the drive. Needless to say, the music is saved on the Half Life CD as a regular music CD.

Here, let me google that for you…

You make a good point, but I would have to disagree with that last bit.

Pretty much how I got into mapping. Use this advise and be patient about it, don’t expect to get everything right the first time.

Good luck.

Cant argue with fourteen year old logic.

Then you’re going to be too fucking lazy to actually make a map.

Reminds me of myself. Never finished my map. :frowning:

I get half way into a map, run into a problem, and start a new one. Finally managed to settle down a couple of weeks ago, though.

I can make awesome maps, I just need inspiration.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
