Doom, the logic is this:
-There are enough people in the world, so not having children doesn’t contribute to that problem.
-There are millions of orphans in need of adoption
-Wealthy people are more capable of providing for adopted children
People are going to keep having children. Parents are going to keep dying or abandoning/being separated from their children, creating more orphans.
In other words, choosing adoption instead of procreation helps alleviate suffering of children without parents, and obviously poor people don’t have the means to adopt.
There is an added benefit of enlarging the gene pool when adopting children from distant countries, although that doesn’t really matter much with so many people around.
Adoption helps redistributing wealth instead of maintaining the status quo.
The way humans seem to stubbornly exist in some of the least liveable places on earth means I believe it would take a world altering disaster (meteorite/Tesla Death Ray) to actually kill us off.

But it was banned shortly after, because Germany is experiencing a decline in birth rates among well-educated, middle class German citizens, and thus tv spots like these are not approved of by the authorities, who don’t want the German people to become extinct. That it is not the toil of raising children, but simply the economical and ecological state of the world we live in that prevents educated people from breeding, doesn’t seem to have entered their heads yet.
