Hubicorn Needs PC Help >:0

Hey Guys, I have not tried anything yet as I am not home but I can address a few things now.

I am pretty sure it’s not the memory has it was working fine on another motherboard before I got this new one for about a few weeks. The ram is also compatible with my current board.

i7 processors are very meaty, that generally means they can produce quite a lot of heat. A good thermal paste (e.g. Arctic Silver 5) spread thinly across the processor needs to be applied as well as having the heat sink evenly held against the surface of the paste to insure optimal heat dissipation.

Good luck mate.

it’s either the PSU or a thermal problem then

My bet is on the PSU. I’ve had a similar problem where my PC, instead of shutting off like in our case, would randomly start to restart itself and I had to cut off the power to shut it off.

It sounds like what mine used to do when I built it, Try changing the FSB memory usage in the voltage control in the BIOS.

If it hasn’t been solved yet, haven’t read thread yet. It’s likely to be the motherboard that needs replacing, I had a similar problem and a replacement of the motherboard solved it.

OK then, just read the thread, it’s not the motherboard then, my post is redundant.

It’s most likely a PSU or Thermal problem as others have stated.

Yes, but they could have been damaged during the move from one board to another. Never make any assumptions

unlikely

Just got home and I am currently going to try a few things you all have suggested. Here is a screen shot of my temps shorty after I turned it on.

71°C is really high, short after systemstart, my CPU has about 45°C after system start

here’s a updated photo:

Reduce some of the temperature your CPU is receiving?

could you post a pic of the inside of your PC?

when you said 70(Oc) - wouldnt even dream of those tempratures, just remember stock CPU cooler only efficient for stock voltages and clock. NEVER oc on a stock cooler.

3.47Ghz (14% load) - so you ARE oc’d?

Your on your desktop with barely any applications running correct? should idle in the 50’s

(sorry havent had time to look at all posts)

Also, remember EVERYTHING effects the heat of all parts, how are your fans in the case setup? airflow direction? clean cpu, apply higher grade quality paste, and install new cooler.

thx, Mango that you post something that has been posted 1000times before(the part of overheating and stuff)

and btw, if you overclock you need to raise the voltage sometimes, otherwise it gets unstable + you need a new cooler if you want to overclock, the stock cooler is obviously not made for that.

EDIT: what is the stock voltage of this CPU?

out of the box, : 1.240V

and he has his CPU overclocked and only 1.16V?
alright…

open the start menu and type in “logs” the first item that should appear is “View event logs” open that. Click on windows logs, then system, right click then click “filter current log” enable the tick box for critical (try warning or Error if nothing comes up) then press ok.

What appears on the list? (near a date and time of the shutdowns)

Intel Turbo was turned on. The temps are now at 50c but it still turned off. This is no longer a heating issue. I did notice that my memory timing was 7 7 7 16. My memory can only support 7 7 7 20. Could this be it? I now changed the settings and turned off Intel Turbo. Here is a screen:

Now could something be a bit off with the PCI express bus, ect? Since this motherboard seems to overclock everything that’s placed into it. Umm.

Let’s see if it turns off now. the memory is back on 7 7 7 20 (Stock) and so is the CPU. I have a feeling it will still turn off = /

yeah, the timings could be the problem, as I stated before, I had similar problems, when I had the wrong timings and the PCI and PCIex clocks are normal
