How you found Black Mesa

<3

I found it while searching YouTube’s database and stumble upon the trailer that stated it was being release in 2009. After that I decided to visit this fine website and find that the game is not released yet. So I decided to register the forum so I keep myself updated.

The End.

Fairly certain I read about Black Mesa on a website detailing Half-Life 2 mods around mid last year.
I liked what I saw, so I checked the website every so often to get updates, and recently I decided to sign up for the forums.

I can’t remember how I found Black Mesa, although, I think I posted in here before. :3

Well, I think I was looking for Half Life 1 in Youtube, and stumbled across this, And feel in love straight away. <3

Saw advert for it at the end of one of the Freeman’s Mind episodes. Was like: “Hmmm, what’s this? O_o A remake of Half-Life? About bloody time…”

Was going through a nostalgic phase, looking for old games I used to play, and some I havn’t, when I remember HL1, and in looking it up, found BMS somehow

Amidst my discontent at the Half-Life: Source that Valve shoved onto us, I went to ModDB and checked it out.

HLS: pefect example of a good idea done VERY poorly and at the wrong time

When I was looking for a laptop in the summer of '07 someone on the Notebookreview forums mentioned this mod, and I’ve been stopping by since then.

Oddly enough, the Asus G1s laptop I bought in 07 died three months out of warranty :fffuuu:, and I just ordered a new Lenovo Y550p a little while ago.

I found it on the german counter-strike forums, cstrike.de
There is a 17-part-story-thread of half life, and somebody told me that there is this mod.

I was looking at half life source as my source junkie friend walked into the room… He had a conniption, Flamed at me a bout how shitty it was, then showed me the forum. I saw and… well, jizzed myself :jizz:

I didn’t find Black Mesa.

Black Mesa found me.

But to be honest, I don’t remember how I heard about it the first time. halflife2.net maybe.

in 2005 I looked up Half life in source engine and came to Black Mesa since it looks MUCH better than half life source.

I found bms in moddb, then i start lurking around forum until late 2008, i register.

I googled for duke nukem forever and came out with this
awkward

Haha. I lol’d.

I’m a half life junkie since day one, and always hoped someone would come out with a re-make of the original aging graphics…one google search and a fabulous youtube video later…here I am…God, I miss JackHorner

It was about a year ago, I was looking for a mod that utilized the source engine to recreate HL1 that wasn’t fucking HLS and found this.

HLS was not meant to be Half-Life updated on the Source engine. Valve never claimed it would be. They just used it to show how easy it was to port GoldSrc mods to Source.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
