How you found Black Mesa

Absolutely I’d pay for BM. I’d have payed for NS2 if they hadn’t abandoned their modding community like they did.

I know I may be overly sensitive about the subject, but ever since Gearbox abandoned the Op4CTF community during the Steam roll-out, I’ve made it a point to suport devs that support their communities.

Case in point: I’ll be buying L4D2, because I believe Valve when they say it has enough content to warrant a new game. On the other hand, I am seriously on the fence about buying Borderlands because while it looks fun, I’m still holding a grudge against Gearbox.

Holding grudges never benefited anyone.

Also do you say NS2 doesn’t support user-made content?

Buying L4D 1/2 gives Valve the impression you want them to keep creating games that have nothing to do with the Half-Life universe.

I won’t buy a Valve game until Episode 3, and they better announce something about Ep3 and/or Half-Life 3 soon.

I read on the steam forums that it is confirmed valve isn’t working on HL3… yet.

But, episode 3? Guaranteed shown at next year’s E3/PAX. If it isn’t? May god have mercy on us all.

Although, interestingly enough, Mr. Newell has said he is excited about intel larrabee… which would be an orgasmic experience if, oh I don’t know, Half-Life 3, fully exploited such silicon.

Ray traced HL3?.. Ooooooh gawwwwd :jizz::jizz::jizz:

Jesus christ, with ‘fans’ like you, why the hell should they?

Because the story in the Half-Life series is the best story in all of gaming? They are also some of the greatest single player games ever made. I would pay $100 right now for Half-Life 3.

I’m such a shitty fan huh?

Regarding the actual topic of this thread, I’m fairly sure I found out about this mod pretty damn soon after it went public. I know I’ve been waiting years for it and it will consume my life when it comes out.

Yes, you’re a shitty fan. Valve brought you Half Life 1 and 2, and then two episodes, all of which are amazing. Now you’re demanding they should release the third as soon as they possibly can.

That makes you a shitty fan.

Also, I don’t know why you made the point about Half Life being awesome, I never said it wasn’t.

I didn’t demand a release of Episode 3. I said they should release info, anything, about it. We’ve heard nothing about HL3 or Episode 3 in years.

So? That’s generally how Valve do things. We rarely get info on their games until they’re near release.

Are you guys trying to say you found Black Mesa by derailing threads or am I missing your point?

Both.

I can’t remember how I found Black Mesa, but I certainly remember my first topic being around the reload animations of the RPG (I hated that Valve had simplified the anim in HL2).

Talking of Valve, that reminds me of my earliest memory of Ram, posting that he hated it when people posted it as ‘VALVe’ =D

Well then he must really hate VALVe :stuck_out_tongue:
https://www.valvesoftware.com/

Unless he just hates the superscript “e” turned into subscript

That they use both Valve and VALVe on that page?

about 4 years ago the first media release for Black Mesa Source came out and I saw on on some website I’m sure doesn’t exist anymore. I think I still have those images logged somewhere deep- those were some pretty impressive placeholders.

After a lapse in attendance I’m coming back around to see what’s up.

And it turns out I’m a cockroach, fuckin’ great.

Can you really not tell the difference between superscript and lower case?

It doesn’t say “VALVe” on that page. There is a logo.

I see offtopic…

Polish CD-Action magazine, maybe 2007/04, section “Moderator” about mods, preview, I think

i was punched buy a guy with a blakc mesa ring and when i came to the logo and url was permanantly stamped onto my face

I found Black Mesa when i was browsing Moddb.com

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
