Wikipedia FTW.
Hell yeah!
Heard about the idea on the HalfLife2.net forums way back when. Followed it ever since through LF, GN and now BM.
Friend referred me. Strange, first person to say that…
It’s been close to 5 years now IIRC. I’ve always been involved in the HL2/Gmod community, so I guess it was probably just searching through phwonline.info (.com back then) or random hl2 links.
PCGamer years ago, while I was running a well known half life fan site at the time called HLGamer.com, Network home of HL2Gamer.com, CSSGamer.com, TF2Gamer.com. We got contacted to host both leak-free and black mesa. And here I am, five years later.
I can’t remember how I found out. It might have been on the ‘Extras’ part of Concerned…
Or a friend told me.
One of those.
We should make you both pledge not to use the forum as a virtual battleground if you two get in a tiff :\
As for me, good god. I’m actually struggling to remember. I discovered BM around Christmas of 2004, lurked a while, and then joined the forums. I want to say that I was searching for HL2 demo videos and media (you see, I’d just gotten a copy of HL2 for Christmas, but I didn’t yet own a computer capable of playing it, so I was a bit starved for HL-sequel-y goodness; the computer didn’t come until a year and a half later).
I was 15 then, and I just turned 20 today, so I’ve been in it for the long haul.
I don’t remember, it was a long time ago. I think I saw it on a thread on the Steam Users Forums.
I think that’s where I found it too. But honestly, I have no idea how I stumbled across it. I just know I was thinking “It would be neat if Half-Life were remade” and then there it was.
Loafing around at Borders, I flipped open a PC Gamer Magazine and saw the mod.
Combine Overwiki.
Sifting through mods on this sight: https://halflife2.filefront.com/files/Half-Life_2;32index and I was like “oh cool.” It had an email address and I sent an email saying something along the lines of, " Please send me an email to let me know when you guys are done." I didn’t think it would take this long for them to get back to me. Anyways I checked the website again, after I got back from Iraq, for shits and giggles and saw alot of updates in media. I then started reading all the things in the Got a Question thread to make sure I never asked a question that was already answered. At that time it was something like 500-600 something pages and it took me a few months. Then I finally joined the jolly ranks of you forumites. And…I been here ever since.
I dont remember anything prior to leak free. I was a fan then, I am a fan now. oh wait… I am on the team and not just a fan. No matter. This project rocks my sox!
eternalness your avitar is awesome. =-D
I saw the first trailer on youtube after having been looking for hl videos.
It was presented in the ‘Steam Update News’ in… 2007(?). That’s where I stumbled in and I’ve been here ever since…
Q: How did you find Black Mesa?
A: Delicious!
It was like being on holiday with a group of Germans.
I found out exactly the same way.
All about the Red Dwarf quotes at the moment, aren’t you?
