How would YOU release Black Mesa?

No way.

i would probably put it up for download on a local server and then update the media page with a download link or something

creative, right?

This is a base 64 encoded rar: UmFyIRoHAM+QcwAADQAAAAAAAAB7wHQgkCoAAgAAAAIAAAACrCqT2H1Udz4dMAUAIAAAADEudHh0APBKZRloacQ9ewBABwA=

(Requires renaming the extension to .rar, link not IE compatible)[/SIZE]

This is a QR code of the encoding:

Phones can decode QR codes, they can contain links, text, etc.
However QR codes have a limited number of characters, and BM is massive, so you would need lots of them; hence a youtube video.

An ARG.
Portal 2 initial advertising method, aww yeah. It was fun and got a lot of attention.

I would release on the same day as portal 2 :stuck_out_tongue:

And then this would be me. Portal 2 comes out on my birthday.

IT’S THE BEST DAY EVVVVVEEERRRRRR

i would release it in a 2 terrabyte file containing pictures of small bits of code, which must be copy and pasted into script. where every other image is a troll face that says “problem fourms”

i would change the bit under “When will black mesa be released?” on the homepage to “Tomorrow” and laugh as everyone jizzed all over their keyboards…

Like I’ve said before, technically they could get away with it. As long as they never removed the “tomorrow” they would never really be lying. Tomorrow never comes, you know.

I would release it on April 1, 2011.

I’m not about to go through the entire thread, but I’d release it by changing the “Go to Microsoft Product Support Services and perform a title search for the words HTTP and 404.” on the 404 pages to “Go to Black Mesa Download Services and perform a title search for the words DOWNLOAD and HERE.”, with the URL obviously sending you to the download page.

Well, that DEFINITELY isn’t happening. Have you heard the soundtrack yet?

this thread is “how would you release black mesa?”, not “how do you think they will release black mesa?”.

I would release it so everyone who actually made an account or contributed to the forums before BMS is released got their hands on the mod around 2 weeks to a month before the general public.

knowing this forum, people would leak it out, making it pointless.

I would release it today.

I would release it on Xen.

I would release it yesterday on Xen.

Technically feasible, but you’d have to wait six more days to compensate for the slow teleport.

I would release it publicly to one person and then watch in amusement at the events that would unfold.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
