EPIC WIN.
Hi. Already said my introductions, but never posted mainly because I never post. Until now. I hope I only get singed.
I was thinking, about how to release the mod an’ all - and going on the OP’s (Is that right? Original Post or something? Sorry, I’m new at this but what the hell, gotta find out sometime) idea of changing the “Black Mesa is some hot shit” thing, I thought you could add an “It’s coming…”, or “It’s near…” (Or my favourite, “THE END IS NIGH!”) in the bottom left of the main picture. Kinda like this but not done by me, or done with Paint:
Just see if anyone notices and ignore any response people make to it. Then without telling anyone, a month or whatever later turn the “Black Mesa is some hot shit” text into a link to a trailer, or some other mouthwatering piece of media. Then… do something else. Release?
I hope you have enjoyed my bullshit.
Your Internetz skills just levelled up, congrats.
sounds pretty cool, actually.
Holy shit, that almost makes sense.
A fucking link, you say? So, how many spins would you suggest we sit through before getting the mod?
On a Monday. Release it on a Monday.
I would Make the Lambada logo on the front page lead to the download link to the mod, while at the same time put a link on the front page that says something like “click here to download the mod” but it actually leads to something that cannot be unseen.
Or a rickroll
surprise release
No release at all. That’d be a suprize ^^
In a timely manner.
I would put small things/links/whatnot all over the website for the community to solve. This would build up a massive hype until release, bring back people who lost interest and keep the community amused. Almost like Valves pre-announcement on Portal 2.
However this would take time to prepare, in other words probably steal precious time on the mod. Also it might be a bit overkill for a non-payed dev team.
Well if I was a lazy individual who cares not for my word when I give it and I lack initiative, I would just ignore everyone and play what’s ready for myself, never caring if the mod gets released or not.
But if I decided to go against my nature, I would have regular updates and new picture content, set a tentative release date and keep it at all costs. Otherwise I would reveal my real character of a lazy wretch that I am.
But since I will not change my nature for what I am, I will just sit back copiously excrete on everyone and laugh.
I wonder if there is an opening on the dev team for me??
I’m sure you’d fit in perfectly writing the mod’s manual.
What I would do is this:
Release a playable BETA around Christmas and give people who in your opinion deserve the trust the possibilty to test BMS extensively. All others have to watch and troll while these people get to play until their fingers bleed and the hype builds up.
Could be hard finding people you can trust that much. You could let them sign an agreement or something (100 000 Dollar fines work). The Trolls will rage and attack, but who’s afraid of them…
Then after 2 months release using piratebay or STEAM.
Somehow I don’t think they trust any of us at this point.
Probably not, no.
