I’d save it magnetically to casette tapes.
I wonder how many tapes it would take…

One casette ~4GB of data.
The only way to get it would be to buy my book “Swedish Pump and Me”, which will come with a DVD containing the mod.
I would disguise it as DNF, so when that hits that shelves people would end up buying BM instead.
I’d dress up in a giant penis costume, and give it out on DVD to anyone brave/daft enough to go anywhere near me.
Failing that, ebay for 100 billion dollars.
I would put put the mod on a cd, delete it from everywhere else, and then proceed to smash the disk with a shovel.
Just so I can spent more time with you guys.
I’d use a flame thrower.
I would release it directly and exclusively as an episodic “let’s play” on youtube. An episode per month, with a 4 years hiatus right before the Xen level.
Other people would only be able to watch me play the mod, and express their frustration in the comments section.
I’d host it on rapidshare in 3 mb part files and then when the whole thing is finished downloading and they can open it, all they’ll find is a 6g rickroll. hehehe… I would die.
I would split the mod’s source code in 100 parts, post the parts on the forum in a completely random order and then force everyone to correctly assemble them back and compile the code.
And after that is done laugh at their faces because you did not include the art asset files.
Upload 1/8 of the mod, in a partial password RAR archive, to various fileservers across the world, and giving users no indication until a month after release other than “Most popular Filefront downloads: Black Mesa, Part 4/8” forcing the community to collaborate to find the other parts and unite them to get it 1 month early.
Fileplanet would be seeded with a txt file called Black Mesa, Part 9/8 which contains only a URL, on which the archive’s nonsensical password is visible with no other context. That is the largest joke, because nobody goes to Fileplanet, and anybody who did would have to wait 1/2 hour to download the tiny url.
After 1 month, assume this secret has been broken, formally announce the mod, link to the various mirrors on the main site and provide the archive’s password with context, and have some devs seed a torrent version if the community has not already done so.
Oh man, announce that it will be released alongside Duke Nukem Forever.
I mean, George Broussard claims the game is still being made.
Checks Katana’s post history:mono:
Post the entire mod, in Binary, on the forums. It would be up to us to assemble and compile the code.
I would release it within the next 10 years… but them I AM a bit of a dreamer…
As most people have said already, I’d release it in a timely fashion.
If I were really crazy, though, I’d burn it to a bunch of discs and hand it out in front of Best Buy or Gamestop.
i’d sell it on ebay for a million bucks
Then we’ll all pool together, get ready to but out bid on it, then Bill Gates would go “nou” and bid $1 higher that we could collect, play it himself and destroy the disk.
I would leave a flash drive or three (provided the game isn’t too big) around at something like E3, randomly.
i would give it to steve jobs to release as an iphone app
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
