Every once in a while.
I haven’t formatted since 2005 when I stopped using Windows 98 Se
I don’t ever do it manually but it seems from other posts in here that W7 does it automatically.
SSD’s are made at fab facilities and margins on the product are quite slim. It’s the fabs that set the main price and not the distributor/retailer. If cost to distribution is $10 then they may mark it up a little over a dollar, for sake of argument let’s say $11.25. The retailer, also working on low margins, is lucky if he can sell it at $12.75.
The reason you see prices drop are that fab facilities, through time, are able to get a higher yield out of their production. This is true of both flash, RAM and CPUs. As production yields increase, prices decrease. That’s the reason that ANY TIME a new memory technology arrives it’s always expensive.
Production yields are always lower on new products and fabs designate a smaller percentage of their available overall production available to newer technology. As yields increase, more product is available AND more space/time is given to the newer products production. Also, keep in mind that any time new production is added, other high yield production has to be taken away.
I always defrag after brushing
Been a while since I did it last. Main drive was up to 9% fragmentation.
Running as I type, and hopefully a little more often than previously.
