Seriously. Look at this -

Number THIRTY FIVE. That must be wrong. I don’t see how this mod could be not #1.

Lack of media release activity, a multitude of other quality mods, a delay and the opinions of the internet. That’s why.
Who cares. It’ll jump right back on number 1 when it gets released.
Yeah, Hazzmat is right. BM > all.
Do what you will folks, but according to their rules, we are no longer eligible for ANY of their awards other than the one that is offered to RELEASED games. Yes, I will vote for Black Mesa but that vote will promptly be put into a special bin pile and it wont go anywhere. Not to say we are not grateful. We are. But I don’t really blame them for not letting us be a part of the winnings. (choking on her own words)
2004 - Best Website Design - 3rd Place
2005- Best Upcoming - 1st Place
2006 - Best Unreleased - 1st Place
2007 - Honorable mention (Although I can’t find where that is. )
2008- A Mention
Well I find it interesting to be able to see other more imaginative mods immerge, who would have otherwise been shadowed by this one’s hegemony.
I find this mod brilliant in quality, and does tower over others in that sense, but in the originality and ideas departement for new interesting gameplay (which I think should be the forte of mods and indie games) isn’t quite what it could be given that it’s a remake.
Where’s Minerva?
Well last year it was relegated to 2nd place (I think) because it had been in production for too long :retard:
That is incorrect Death. We got an honorable mention but nothin more. At this stage I cant even find where that honorable mention IS.
black mesa is so good it is no longer considered a mod. it graduated into a free game.
If the ModDb admins didn’t discard most votes for BM, it would surely still be #1
This bscly.
What it doesn’t get from moddb now will be repayed in spades when sites like IGN start handing out 9/10 reviews.
In my mind its a similar situation to what happened to the LOTR movies awards wise.
The first and second movie were great, however everyone knew that it was actually one 12 hour long movie and hence waited until the last one was released to actually heap praise and awards upon the cast and crew.
sighs in fond rememberance of the 11hour and 15min LotR extended cut.
Ign has been mute about BM with the exception of one passing mention (it wasn’t a sentence long and they didn’t even call it by name) that linked to the trailer in an article. I realize that they have industry titles that they have to review and such, but it wouldn’t kill them to edit the page that they created for it on their website, and actually add something to it. It better get straight 10’s from IGN and a big main page announcement upon release.
I thought ModDb was for mods that were dead and nowhere near completion?
Haha oh wow, Operation Black Mesa is 11 spots higher then BM, what a kick in the pants.
All you have to do is look in the Vapourware section of the ladder, there is BM on #1.
IGN might be ignoring it, but the Gamespy forums (which they own ) will be abuzz with news of Black Mesa being released (when it happens). I’ll see to it personally
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: If any of the major gaming websites ignore this game upon release they are extremely stupid and cannot call themselves a “gaming website”.
What better way to cater to the gaming community than to inform them of a free, awesome, 20 hour game? I really can’t think of one. Except perhaps free cake.
I’d rather have the former.
Ba ha ha.
Minerva is great and all, but it’s a joke compared to many of the Source mods out now.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
