how good is my protection

Or just do what several people (including myself) have said:

Don’t browse like a fucking moron and you don’t have to worry about viruses.

CTID : You forgot “stay away from keygens, cracks, illegal patches, etc”

Don’t only quote half my sentence. Firefox without adblock, noscript and weboftrust isn’t that much better than running straight ie.

It’s still at least a little better though.

In addition to knowing what I’m doing, avoiding IE etc, always having a firewall up, and being behind a NAT router, I also periodically run Secunia PSI, which tells me when something I have installed has a security-related update, thereby helping me avoid having any virus-friendly compromisable software.
For most people, the M$ Security Essentials + windows firewall (unless you like keeping track of exit traffic too), NAT router, and generally keeping things updated (hence Secunia) is plenty, tho knowing not to open dodgy emails helps too (but things like using gmail with it’s great spam filter helps a lot there too).

Ya i get alot of Viagra junk mail.

Except for the fact that it works?

^This.

However, if you are intent on getting more protection, never pay for it. Go with Avira/AVG for free virus protection and ZoneAlarm or the basic Windows one for a firewall. For spyware, look at Spybot; its an old favourite of mine.

Super anti spyware is a good program as well.

Overall I think your protection is adequate: Now there is absolutely no chance you will ever get a woman pregnant.

Sorry, I went there.

EDIT: Just a small clarification; that wasn’t a personal attack, it was made in good fun and I hope you don’t take it personally, because it certainly wasn’t meant that way.

Oh, and something about viagra.

The only thing you need.

Don’t worry, a mod will soon come and delete your post for posting innuendo… :frowning:

I use Norton because my brother had an extra install left. And Firefox. Though the real protection is Common Sense 2008

I would, but I was going to come to this thread to post the exact same thing…

Doesn’t Norton use alot of system resources though?

Except the computer I use is so bad-ass I can afford that.

I hope i’m not bumping this thread but does anybody know what antivirus with spyware protection uses the least resources, and has good protection.

Norton 2010 uses about 10-15MB of RAM and hardly ever uses more than 1-2% of CPU, mostly when scanning or updating.

Symantec Antivirus (not norton)

Right now i’m using spyware doctor with antivirus and spyware protection, is this good protection?

Also if you guy’s give me names of the program can you also give me a link.

Protip: don’t google keygens, cracks or illegal patches. If you have a legit site to get them from, then you’re fine.

Should I buy malware bytes, also what does it protect you from? Just malware and antivirus, and what about spyware?
