HL2: Episode Four

If they don’t make Episode 3 & (because I know someone will argue semantics) the next Half-Life game is called Half-Life 3, I will not only cut off my own dick, but I will eat it.

That is how stupid I think it would be for Valve to do that & I have a hard enough time trying to comprehend how anyone would possibly think otherwise.

I wholeheartedly agree, Valve promised a trilogy of episodes and then a whole new story arc for HL3, if they scrap that plan and release HL3 with the current story arc, I won’t eat my own dick but I’ll probably just pirate the game instead of buying, and I own HL1+expansions, HL2, EP1 and EP2 on steam.

Have you noticed the link to the concept art doesn’t work anymore?

this must be a sign about black mesa being released soon >:O

OMG, Its gone release.

Does the concept art itself explicitly say Half-life or Episode 4 anywhere?
The article says it was a “canceled project” from EA. Doesn’t sound anything like a HL expansion.
EDIT: On further inspection, it says C17, and the files were under a folder called Half-life.
I’d be willing to bet it was canceled because of legal issues, because there’s no way Valve would hand HL over to an inferior developer.

They did it before.
It resulted in Blue Shift, Opposing Force & Decay.

yes, but they aren’t too fond about what gearbox did to the storyline - basically the whole canon discussion.

CS for the xbox was also done by a separate company, i think.

Yes, but
A ) Back then, Half-life had been designed to be a B game.
B ) EA is much worse than Gearbox, IMO. Gearbox at least paid attention to some of the canon, EA would probably tear it apart.
Don’t get me wrong, EA has churned out some good stuff. But I don’t think HL would be one of them, and they honestly shouldn’t be trusted with any other developer’s IP.

It was to be spinoff, and probably few years before Gordon arrived, so maybe Seven hour war starring Shephard so Im sad they canceled it because with another HL less time waiting for sequel so prequel is good for me :*(

Wow you guys believe anything you see don’t you 0_0

beats believing things you can’t see.

Episode four? are you sure that it’s still HL2?

I’m gonna hold you to that, you know.

No sweat. And when Episode 3 does officially get announced, I’ll happily send you a sound-bite of me happily laughing at the people who thought it would be called HL3.

I think that if Valve was ever going to let anyone make a Half-Life 2 game that spon off the original story plot, it would have been GearBox. I mean just look at how good Blue Shift and Opposing Force were! They were the top expansion packs for years after they were released. Plus with big game titles, comes BIG royalties

Right back at ya. :freeman:

From the looks of it, this “episode” would have been shit. Thank God it was cancelled.

Now, I also believe that the next Half Life game will indeed be Episode 3. As stated, it would not make sense for it to be called Half Life 3 if it continues from where Episode 2 left off.

Now, the important question is which will come out first: Black Mesa, Episode 3, or Duke Nukem Forever?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
