Cause it got cancelled
Really? Is there any news about it? Do you know why they cancelled it?
Don’t listen to Dotard.
Hee hee.
@Pyro… you must be either ignorant or naive. Valve themselves refer to it as Half-Life 3, may I link you to the latest mention of it pretty much from a few days ago?
Gabe: “I won’t answer questions about Half-Life 3”
Also linking in here his statement about how they are done with episodic content from 2 years ago isn’t needed, is it?
Oh, fuck
Not this debate over names again
Changing the name does not mean that they cancelled it completely.
I mean, do you expect them to just leave a gigantic gap in the story by completely skipping a game?
Episode 3 = Half-Life 3 prologue.
Yeah. I’m hoping for a 6 hour PROLOGUE. And at least 30 hours of the main game, with two more acting as an EPILOGUE. Of the entire story.
Did I mention I expect the 30 hours to be a speedrun time?
(Yeah, I’m a dreamer. Happens if you dream about something that feels impossible)
Didn’t gabe newell say they were done with the episodic model and that the next half-life would just be half-life 3? Besides what’s wrong with HL3 just continue where Episode 2 left off? Why a need for an episode 3 to continue the story?
That’s the whole point, how the game is gonna be called is the last thing we should be worried about
Yeah. I’m with you on this one.

Chillout. I wanted to suss you out.
And as I keep establishing a great percentage of the HL serie fans ignore the problem behind the continuous delay of EP3 and the discretion about HL3.
The problem, to make it easy, is that the voice actor who gave voice to Wallace Breen, Robert Culp, has died.
They said how sorry they were to Rock Paper Shotgun and few other magazines, and that because of this event they didn’t know if they would have ever released EP3, and how they would have decided to deal with the whole HL serie. Their comunicate was ending with condolences for Robert Culp’s family and friends.
I only wanted to remark this fact in case some of you ignored it, because I’ve seen speculation and discussions growing up these episodes (and sometimes derailiring) too many times.
Over and out.
Is Breen alive?
If so, is his voice remotely similar to what it was like?
If so, is he now a giant grub?
Actually, come to think of it, every grub is squishy…
I doubt VA’s death has anything to do with EP3’s cancellation, there are many good imitators, not to mention if he survived, surely not as a human.
I’m partial to the theory that Breen is an advisor, but I highly doubt that we’ll actually get to interact with him in any notable fashion. I think the whole thing would do better as one of those little mysteries that fans speculate about on the forums.
Not these forums, mind.
Holy shit Pyro I tried re-reading it, but still couldn’t understand the logic in that post.
You are saying that Breen’s story should be pure speculation instead of being part of a game? We already have the G-Man for that. And why not these forums exactly?
I like the idea, Breen’s fate being left out for fan’s interpretation.
Until valve officially cancels EP3 or releases HL3 and skips further episodes, the next half life game is gong to be EP3. Why is that so hard for folks to understand? And don’t keep mentioning ricochet 2 or some employee wearing a shirt they made or some bullshit ass fan website. We will know when valve says so. Otherwise it is just like a bunch of grade schoolers debating on the merits of a hulk vs superman battle
Actually, when Culp died Valve said cleary that the even would have influenced EP3 development. Nobody except Valve knows how and how much though.
Why Gabe calls it Half-Life 3 then?
