Help us make an awesome wiki!

Perfect definition, Catz!

So, what kind of information we could put on the main page? Let’s gather ideas to work on them and create a design.
The ideas we already have:

  • Welcome info & the point of the wiki
  • Fan made stuff
  • Links to main categories

Anything else?

While you have a valid point, it seems that most new people here sign up and ask their question that has already been answered is one of the FAQs (Don’t get me wrong, I think the wiki is a great idea. Hopefully it changes this)

I think the front page needs to have some nice big links up the top to the main categories that are currently in 8pt down the bottom to make it easier to navigate around.

BM Chat is getting overloaded with people asking whether BM will make it in 2009.
You should change the name of the Chatroom and just add a “BM will not be released in 2009, Read the facking faq”

EDIT
Wrong thread.

HAHAHAAAA! but not SO off topic huh Adam?

Yeah, you will still get those that come to the forum area to start crap, finish with crap or just look around till they crap. But those with intelligent minds will go straight to the wiki.

Lets get this done people! Now, who has the plan!?

I guess not. :stuck_out_tongue:
Well, I just posted a load of things, and now I have no idea where they’ve gone. :hmph:

Ok guys, I made some initial changes (very crude) on the main page, putting there a simple “welcome-to-the-BM-wiki-text” and some of the most important links we already have in the wiki.

Unfortunately I don’t know much how to play with advanced wiki tools, so feel free to play there!

Appending to Conti’s changes:
Ye/nah? (View attached  )

I say ye, though I would suggest the text be below the images instead of above.

I increased the title size and put more info below eac (Links to related categories)

Ah, that look rather nice :3
I like your crowbar toting stick-men.

Awesome!

should the pictures be made smaller ? And who here can fix this in chrome? Can anyone do that or is that something I have to bug cman2k about?

The pics are easy and anyone can edit. Ex:

Click “edit” in the right column and find a line like this:

| [[File: Singleplayer.png|120px|link=Black Mesa: Singleplayer|Single-Player]]

Singleplayer.png => name of the pic
120px => size
link=Black Mesa: Singleplayer|Single-Player] => link to the wiki article, where “Black Mesa: Singleplayer” is the name of the article page on the wiki, and “Single-Player” is the way you want to show it as a link.

Just change the “120px” with a smaller numbers and the pic shrinks. Don’t forget to click on the “show preview” button before save changes, to see how it will affect the page.

But before shrink the pics, I guess is necessary a bigger font for the wiki. But I don’t know who can do it.

Site looks perfectly fine in Chrome to me…

Site looks screwy in Safari for the iPod, and in Firefox the footer is ~100px offset to the left

The tables aren’t goofy to you?

Huh, you’re right. It’s different for chrome and firefox for me too.

Wiki default font size increased from 10px to 12px.

I’m looking into some of the other problems but no promises, this isn’t exactly my specialty. :stuck_out_tongue:

Wiki’s lookin sexah guys. Good work so far.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
