HELP Navigating Menus No Mouse?

Running Windows 7 PC

Just downloaded & installed both Steam and Black Mesa & my kid & I have NO idea of how to even navigate the Black Mesa submenu system.

No mouse but arrow keys & [ENTER] work in Main Menu, (below)
Resume Game
New Game
Load Game
Save Game
Achievements
Options
Quit

Once in any submenu, (specifically Load Game), still no mouse or cursor seen & unable to navigate by tabbing or arrow keys in sub menus, we’re totally at a loss.

Are these menus supposed to be navigatable with PC mouse & if not then how? Do I need to somehow enable the mouse within Steam or the Black Mesa game?

At PC gaming I’m pretty rusty, (original Half Life PC version was the last PC game I played years ago). Completely lost here, any information much appreciated!

The mouse should work normally. Try to run a different game trough steam, if it works there then just reinstall black mesa.

It’s also possible that it’s a setting in Windows. Check the display and mouse settings in Windows. It seems that this can be a problem in games that run through Steam; it’s not really a Black Mesa issue.

In his defense, the button is bright orange, so it sort of blends into the black background. It’s easy to miss.
