Have a cigar, Snake. They’re Cuban.

Lol, nice.

Someone put a cigar in Gabe’s mouth and our creation will be a success.

fix’d

Gabe Newin or Gabe Newbadass?

Why’d you post it twice?

Double infinity is still infinity, you know.

Edit: Oh, I see. He’s got a tattoo.

Damn, Gabe should join the army now.

I know right? I used to be a gattling-gunner in the army too. Fun times. :stuck_out_tongue:

No shit.

Well there, don’t get your panties in a bunch.

I like the way a so giant device of ownage (according to games) is called the “minigun”!

Other synonyms may be m61 Vulcan or gartling gun, but I seriously think the “minigun” nickname is some kind of a military practical joke… just like Roswell

…Considerating? :fffuuu:

I think they call em miniguns because they’re miniature versions of the shit they put on attack helicopters and jets.

Chaingun has always sounded better IMO

Don’t know if this helps, as I am part of that practical joke, but a minigun uses rifle caliber rounds where as a full fledged gattling uses 20mm or higher.

Eh, not really. I forget the actual name - partly because I’m too lazy to google it ATM - but there is a larger version that they put on certain jets and attack helicopters that are about half the size of urban buses. Seriously - the gun is not so much strapped to the plane than it is that the plane is strapped to the gun. In that context, the ‘minigun’ really is a mini gun in comparison.

But still, they’re too big and powerful for one man to fire continuously without the use of supports. The recoil from the things can likely break ribs, cause internal bleeding, severe bruising and possibly even spine damage.

Yeah - any movie that depicts one man wielding these things is full of shit. *coughcoughpredatorcoughcough.

“Rotor heads” use the what would be defined as the minigun. Most use the 7.62mm NATO round.

Pretty sure the name is just a humorous oxymoron. Probably because it was so big that the name was probably funny.

Maybe it is an acronym?

M.I.N.I.G.U.N?

Don’t remember where I saw it, but on the “minigun” in Predator somewhere they showed that they fired blanks (or some special cartridges with less recoil - think it was just blanks though) and the actor firing it wore a bullet proof vest, mainly because the shell casings flew out at such a high velocity that they were dangerous
Don’t remember if I saw a “Making of” or if it was just some gun show…

Um, no. He’s correct. It’s a miniature version of similarly functioning weapons such as the aforementioned M61 Vulcan.

Oh, and the bulletproof jacket comment is erroneous. Miniguns eject their shells downwards so it was unecessary.
