Hazard Course Remake

When I get home tonight, I’ll finish up the exhibit room and play around with getting it working. I’m currently using an elevator from lambda core as the lift, but I’m trying to design one that hardens back to the lift you started in in the original. Hopefully I’ll have some screenies tomorrow.

Character manifest/zoo changelog:

*Added profiles for two guards found in the WIP of t0a0.
*Added 10 guards for tky’s section.
*Added a couple of random employees who asked to observe. One of them apparently knows today’s trainee.

…Aaand apparently there is some reason. Either that or, like randomized skins, it appears to only happen some of the time. Maybe it has a random chance of all the skins on the model, but if the selected skin isn’t in the list, it goes to the first one that is? Dunno.

Shooting room updated and dropbox’d. I tried to go with the “converted warehouse” look, as per Crypt’s suggestion.

If anyone wants to tackle lighting too, be my guest… although that’s probably really low priority for that map right now. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve no idea how that room would even be lit, by looking at it.

Edit: Dude, this is neat as fuck!

Things are getting done.
Happy? :3

Well, let’s see, progress report? From what I know of anyway.

Crypt: I’ve been editing the room after HEV silo… thing. I’ve also popped around Dky’s maps and worked on lighting whenever he brings it up.

Box: Working on the PS2-based intro I believe, all the way up to the room before the HEV silo.

Dky: Huge strides in the “guard usage” room towards the end, and the shooting range. You can definitely tell he spends a lot of time working on these.

Jeff: From what I know, he’s been working on the tram ending, character manifest, and I think some choreography, judging by his folder in the dropbox.

And then there’s [redacted] based around the [withheld] next [censored] by [waffles]. And then you were up to date.

IM actually polishing the first room before the silo also
the ps2 intro was actually done yesterday…until HAMMER crashed and there was no autosave…4 hours of work gone :frowning:

This is why you develop the habit of hitting CTRL+S every 5 seconds.

EDIT: Guard room updated and dropbox’d.

Got a shortcut bound to one of my mouse keys and I do in fact hit it very frequently (mostly when I’m switching back to Desktop for music, etc.).

A backup every now and then’s a good way of keeping track of how you’ve done things, as well.

Just zip the files into a .rar or .zip, copy it to a remote location (such as: USB-Drive, Ext-HDD, ecetera) and you’re good to go - just in case one of said tools’ trying to be funny and crashes unexpectedly.

Personally, it somehow feels safer to work with the tools, if you know you’ve got a backup from about ~15 to ~30 minutes ago.

All may be well and right, up until to the point where Hammer (or any other tool) decides to crash on a heavy workload / task - as has happened to me several times.

Losing all that work and time spent isn’t fun, at all…

It’s only a single scene for opening a door with a keypad. (I made it back when I was making a second copy of the personnel training room) I may make some temporary stuff for the outro as practice, but don’t expect quality work, a choreographer I am not.

On a related note, have we decided where the player is going to get their weapons confiscated/deposited yet? Should I put a security checkpoint between the train room and the yet-to-be-constructed exit ‘lobby’?

We haven’t even decided how, much less where. :expressionless:

Then I guess I’ll make a security checkpoint and have all the relevant entities for it marked in a visgroup so they can be found and removed/transferred easily later on.
We could probably do it like the bootcamp in Op4, IIRC they had locked doors that only opened after you had your weapons stripped, and doing so also spawned/enabled a weapon model in the hole in the glass.

Then what about the suit? The BMRF can’t have Gordon hogging up all the suit hours outside the Hazard Course. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I’m gonna smash my computer into pieces if this bullshit occurs again…
If anyones interested here is some of Michael’s concept art
https://michaeltannock.deviantart.com/gallery/

forgive me for asking a stupid question, but what does michael’s art gallery have to do with this thread?

The Xen art’s nice, but nothing there is really relevant.

Whoa, what are you ragin’ on about?

hammer crashing

it kind of is relevant since michael says he can make concept art for us.
im raging the fuck out because hammet crashed after 4 hours in hammer orange mapping the intro and it didnt even auto saved

Oh.
Yeah, you should really get in the habit of slamming on ctrl+s every few seconds, like everyone else.

Gina concept art, I guess.

I need some nice, weathered-paint decal textures that say “BREAKABLE” and “UNBREAKABLE” for obvious reasons. Preferably they would be red or at least very easily visible, but still weathered/worn and old.

Anyone up for that?

EDIT: Shooting range massively updated and dropbox’d. I’ve brought it to the point now where I might even be able to grab a couple of screenies tomorrow when I have time.

EDIT2: Here we go.
