Awesome, I’m sure someone will need them at some point.
Decided to give it a shot

Took 2 hours to make while I was half drunk :3
Not bad for being buzzed, I suppose.
I remade a little bit of the intro for the PS2 version a while back. Wonder if I can fig up the .vmf…
lol I was thinking about remaking the pass version.might start today though
Not a bad start! Would you mind if I merged this with the other Hazard Course thread? I’m sure there would still be others that would be keen to help . As I’m sure you’re aware there were two previously unsuccessful attempts at remaking the HC, and I think it would be a great BM community project to see happen. But if you wanted to take this on as a solo project, that’s fine aswell.
I won’t mind at all if you do that .
Threads have been merged!
So it’s settled, then. The Black Mesa Hazard Course is officially under reconstruction.
I don’t know about the whole history of the BM’s Hazard Course project, but have you already seen this video… ?

Wouldn’t be worthwhile to contact the creator of this video and try doing something together?
I use the numpad for FPS play. “.” on the numpad is crouch for me and NumPad9 is jump. It makes crouch jumping very easy. I forget that other people may have completely different key binding setups that would make it potentially more difficult.
That sounds like it would be really awkward for crouch jumping slightly right.
I remember seeing that video and being annoyed he gave up and then didn’t release the .bsp or .vmf. I guess it would be worth a shot to try and make contact, but he did say he lost motivation. Maybe saying it’s for Black Mesa (even unofficially but we tell him that ) would rekindle that motivation.
He was involved previously in making some custom assets, from what I remember he recreated the holograph emitter:
I also found an archive of the old HC Remake discussion boards, not sure how useful it will be but I’ll post it anyway
https://wayback.archive.org/web/*/https://hazard.cazzaserver.com/
It would appear some of the forums seem to be viewable at least, so maybe some ideas can be pulled from those. Would anyone somehow against the odds manage to have any screenshots from back then?
There are some concept images and a lot of discussion about the HEV room here:

Ah. A tad difficult to read what with a lot of data being lost, but I’m sure I can manage to read through the rest of this short book, here, heh heh. I also went ahead and got the images for anyone not wanting to wade through the walls of text:
Of course everything is picked apart within all the discussion, so it’s still best for anyone interested to read through at least some of it.
I like your concept Fridge. The concrete bit might have to go, or at least be made smaller. Here’s a few images which I think have an appropriate feeling of the room, albeit a bit on the large side.
Those are nice. There was a lot of discussion about what the purpose of the HC was before it was refurbished, and I think we decided it was either an old Water treatment plant or a disused missile silo complex.
I’ll also quote something that RabidMonkey said ages ago that might help with the direction of the Course:
“I would have to agree with that post, makeshift is really the name of the game for the hazard course, and many other parts of Black Mesa; in the original HC for example you’re jumping through what looks like disused rocket hulls, and the firing range is just a storage room with crates and stuff to hide targets behind. I would push the makeshift aspect of the level; I think it would make it much more interesting than just some sort of derelict facility that happens to be perfectly suited towards teaching people how to use weapons and the HEV suit.”
I remember that, and I still agree completely. The rocket hulls are what tipped me off first time I played the hazard course. Didn’t pay much attention until, “Wait, are these rocket pieces?”
I changed the layout to be nicer to view and I also added some more images for that room in that album. I probably got a bit too interested (I have absolutely nothing to do) and added too many, so that’s enough from me with that room. For now at least. I like the catwalks in this image in particular (towards the top) and helps illustrate that this room was used for something completely different at one time.
I think I’m gonna hop into the Hazard Course and look around, maybe something else will come to mind and I can add images of a new room, heh heh.
Edit: Yep, definitely some odd underground sewage treatment facility which looks like it was crammed together near some (albeit small) ICBM silos. The old parts of Black Mesa are the ghetto of abandoned government complexes. I guess since I have nothing better to do in the morning I’ll look into those, but it’s 4 in the morning so I should probably crash.
I’m willing to give a shot at mapping.
I may be able to contribute something if you’d like, I’ll have to try my hand at it first, though.
I do have one small suggestion, though; change the Mp5 in the firing range to a glock. Since we’re doing this not as an active tutorial, (though it would work for that as well) but as a pre-game plot point, we don’t really need to demonstrate secondary fire functions, do we? And a pistol used as the standard sidearm for security in the facility would make more sense than giving an untrained scientist a submachinegun with a grenade launcher. Maybe also have a guard take the gun away after the range is completed.
the hazard course isn’t for security personnel, it’s for HEV training.
