Hazard Course Remake (AVAILABLE NOW!)

I guess 4th February 2531 @ 17:59:59

Is the Hazard Course Infinity still a thing? Or was it a joke? I didn’t get what happend to that side of the project x)

Edit: I now see the date of post “1st april” Too bad it was a joke, cos’ it would have been interesting to see that as well

Haha, unfortunate, creating an infinite amount of Hazard Courses for the rest of time proved to be a little difficult for us. Sorry to disappoint :stuck_out_tongue:

We plan to release before the year is over. While we can’t tell you a specific date, we’ll let you guys know when. Until them, before the end of 2015.

Please also note that “End of 2015” is also subject to change, due to forces beyond our control. As much as we’d hate to not make it, sometimes things might happen.

Rest assured though, that I’m trying my damnedest to whipmy slaves to do their work, dammit build a release schedule that will hopefully make a reasonable shot at making the 2015 date. But if it doesn’t work out, there isn’t really much we can do except tough it out and keep going until it’s done.

It’s starting to get pretty damn close though. I’m pretty hyped.

But that goes for pretty much any team and project ever.
The point is that if we didn’t think 2015 was reasonable, we wouldn’t have said it to begin with, because “when it’s done” is far more comfortable.

Are you still keeping your version of the H.E.V. startup screen ? and if yes will it be edited to show sth like H.E.V test model or sth along those lines to not contradict with the final game?
Will there still be a Taco at the entrance of the HC?

We’re keeping our own. We don’t have access to the Black Mesa source code, so we can’t use theirs. When we port to the retail version, we will attempt to use theirs. We won’t bother trying to match our current one with the retail one because it would be insanely difficult, given that our current one is more of a hack than anything.

The taco is still there. I don’t think anyone’s removed it.

The Great Taco Mystery. Who put the taco there? Why does the taco contain a 128-bit encryption key? More importantly, why does the taco contain turkey meat?

Are you sure about that? I haven’t looked in detail at c1a0a, but there has to be some way they got that sequence to play in the map, controlled by some sort of logic entity. Could you not just find that entity and copy it into your own map?

The bootscreen is nice in HC, I really like it!

Maybe another OS they use in HC than in the real hazardous environments! (Just MY thought!)

That would actually make a lot of sense, as the HCHEV suit, even if it is the same version as the specific suit you get in Anomalous Materials, would no doubt have a bunch more software on it to collect performance data and debug various things as it was being tested.

Yes, apparently it’s been programmed in such a way that it can only be used in that map. The devs have said they’d look into allowing it to be triggered in user maps if there’s demand for it.

Like I said, we will attempt to use their boot screen once we port to the retail version. Key word being “attempt”. As of right now, it’s not likely to work, since they hard-coded it into the game to specifically play only in a specific map in Anomalous Materials.

For the non-retail version, of course, we can’t use their boot screen because it’s not available in the mod anyway. And we won’t bother changing our boot screen to match, because that would take far too much effort and it probably wouldn’t look good if I tried to do it anyway.

I’m actually kind of in favour of you keeping your original startup screen for both versions even with jeffmod’s voice, which is as to why I asked if maybe there would be a text change or sth about it being hev test model designed for the hazard course, or sth like that, so that it doesn’t conflict with the retail’s. I think it would be a shame to just discard your’s.

I was actually surprised at how many people enjoyed my terrible temporary voice acting, including the actual voice actors. After hearing it, they almost demanded we make a version with all of it in instead of their work.

Hey, guys! Wanna see some stuff?

Beta is super awesome and stuff, you know. Everything’s pretty. We’ve had recording sessions with @CornetTheory, @debeerguy007, @CatzEyes93, among others. Super hype, it’s all coming together.
Oh yeah, also our team is on Facebook now. You should totally, like, follow us and stuff for updates if that’s your thing. If not, no hard feelings, most of us won’t hate you.

Looking good!!

I do

Solid looking work so far guys!

Where’s that door go?
