Hazard Course Remake (AVAILABLE NOW!)

Good timing. I was getting too excited and almost blurted it out the other day.

Dern filmmakers!

My favorite screenshot is

You did the other courses but you’re not done yet in Gordon’s

That link is pure YLYL material right there. The comments, man, haha, oh wow.

The Freeman Chronicles team has followed up on our lawsuit with an accusation of conspiracy. We at the Hazard Course team consider this to be an open declaration of hostilities.

We will fight the injustice to the end!

I for one have never had dinner at Gabe’s place. No sir!

Whoa, Gabe Newell joins your side to stop Freeman Chronicles? I can’t believe it.

Dky’s jokes are always taken seriously. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here you go, guys:

That looks really good! I like the slightly grungy feel of this area. It definitely feels a bit more expanded from the original.

The one real quip that I have though is the landing areas. It looks kinda weird that these areas are sticking out of the circular platforms. I know why it’s there from a gameplay standpoint (to accommodate jumping angles), but I think it oughta make a little more sense in terms of design. Can I suggest adding some supports for those landing pads?

Also, make sure your grate textures are aligned up top. They aren’t in this picture.

Sure thing! I’ll get to fixing them shortly.

What grate textures?

Why don’t you just put a long piece of plywood over the top of the pipe? Just a couple of these sitting side by side on the pipe, or end to end, or side to end, whatever fits the best.

It would either have to be pretty thick wood, or would require some supports. I think the grates fit the area more, as well.

Is the sprint room different? or the sprint training is in that room also?

This is the sprint room. There’s a HUD hint that tells you how to sprint, and the last jump is impossible without sprinting.

I meant to replace the striped random metal plates. The wood would just be placed ontop of the grate to provide something more sturdy to jump to (as the metal plates do, but they’re unfitting).

Maybe after this, you can make Barney’s training with just a small edit.
Some changes that could be made
Lighting from warm to cool but still maintaining the theme of a recycled area.
The entrance from the lobby to Barney’s training is a different floor from Gordon’s
And of course. Guard trainer holo.

Because clearly wood is more sturdy than metal… :stuck_out_tongue:

Okay but seriously the only reason why the plates are there is because different jumping angles would result in slightly different distances between the platforms if I kept it a cylinder, which is no good because the jump distances are VERY finely tuned, and I can guarantee that some less-skilled players will easily get frustrated if they are no more than a few inches off in their jump.

There is no reason why the Hazard Team couldn’t have just welded the metal plates on. I mean they modified the rest of the area… so surely some metal plates would be easy to do.

As of now, the current rendition of the cylindrical platforms has truss supports to hold up the metal plates, to address concerns about it looking “unstable”.

I suppose we could also do without the platform and use invisiwalls, but then it looks less interesting.
