Hazard Course Remake (AVAILABLE NOW!)

The better it looks, the… better it looks.

Uploaded newest hc_guardroom_01 and hc_shootrange_var1 VMF and BSP.

The Hazard rooms are all rolled into the shooting range map, since I was able to fit it. Some creative triggering allowed me to overcome the No Free Edicts I encountered earlier, so that shouldn’t be a problem anymore. :stuck_out_tongue:

One nice thing about orangemapping the Hazard rooms is that I can now link a level transition between the guard map to the shooting range map. Yay!!

If anyone lags like crazy or crashes during the Hazard runs, tell me immediately. I know the [[cool part]] works on my machine, but I don’t know about anyone else.

EDIT: Requires Crypt’s decal textures.

Dude, I crashed without even downloading the map. You suck. Now I gotta go download it and try again.

Which reminds me, is there a faster way of distributing and stashing files that’s as simple as Dropbox? It’s kinda slow for larger files.

Edit: Okay, what’s with you and the INSANE amounts of items? Holy shit, Black Mesa’s padding their grant money like a son of a bitch.

I follow a modified Rule of Cool.

My rule is: if it looks, feels, or sounds really cool in my head, I just go ahead and do the crap out of it until it can no longer be done any cooler, or it crashes the game.

If it crashes the game, I make the game obey my command and not crash any longer. Hence my frequent encounters with “No Free Edicts” and “VRAD.exe has stopped working.”

:3

You forgot “ridiculous,”

But yeah, I got the “no free edicts” crash as soon as I got burnt. I was hiding in a corner, too, if that matters. Looks freakin’ nice, though.

Ah.

I guess I’m too good for it. It doesn’t crash when I don’t get burnt.

Time to fix that, I guess.

Maybe this is the problem. Congrats, crashed twice. I can’t wait for alpha testing to see how many people bash your item usage. :stuck_out_tongue:

Or maybe I’m the only one that thinks $300 million worth of weaponry is excessive for a trainee.

$300 million for a trainee is worth it, if it means that you can be lazy afterwards. :stuck_out_tongue:

Our values are very different, Dky.

I have had a very good experience with Google Drive.

I just now noticed the lighting is messed up :/…EUGH DISGUSTING
But yeah, we need to add a skin to the tram model if we dont want to conflict with BM:S their skin.

Can you add something like (attaching a wire to a socket or putting a valve to its base)?

Dky, are you finished entity work on the hazard area, then? If you are I’ll start detailing tonight. (Once the VMF downloads)

Well it’s basically feature-complete. I added some props and a bit of small detail to give you a little direction on what I think would be cool to do for each room, but I’ll be willing to give you plenty of creative freedom if it makes the whole thing cooler.

I need to get back to detailing my other stuff too.

Anyone wonder what the “Crouch and break vent” look before it became the Hazard Course? If that vent was there before it became a course, where does the air pass through? Maybe when looking at a vent it’ll reveal a fan through it?

The Hazard Team could have easily installed a vent segment afterward. It wouldn’t have been too difficult.

For some reason I imagine that they knocked down the wall separating the vent duct openings or something and the vents were put there for the course.

Not that anyone can read this, but I’d uploaded an overhead hologram emitter prop yesterday, and I would like some feedback so it won’t clash with our art direction.

I honestly think it used to let water escape out of the room…Dunno, it never made sense to me in the first place. Its probably only there to let the player know vents are breakable.

This seems like what I’d go for if I were to design that area. But Jeff already has that handled, so we’ll defer to him.

Unless we decide to waste time voting on such a trivial subject.

EDIT:

I just did the math. The weaponry alone would probably cost only somewhere over maybe $500k at the most, depending on a few factors. Certainly nowhere near $300 mil… I’m sure their budget can handle it. :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT2:

I might re-do the layout of the battery tables. They’re just kind of awkwardly placed there, and I didn’t really experiment with different layouts. Scaling down the number of batteries could be done if I re-arrange things.

EDIT3:

Re-arranging the layout to reflect easy replaceability might require new entity setups. Oh boy.

I’ll wait for Jeff’s edits before screwing around with it then.
