Hazard Course Remake (AVAILABLE NOW!)

I understand I’m sorry sir, just don’t take it personally

Back on topic, folks. Now.

I am actually really looking forward to this… And it’s not so much for the training aspect but the actual script and story elements…and characters… This is the main reason I am excited for it… Dialogue… And if the dialogue is good then It will be the first level of the game.

Don’t worry I’ve come to understand that, as I make edits myself on the BioShock wikia and we have a strict policy about speculation in articles. However, I just wanted to point out that having a hub at the end of the map, leading to all of the course’s major areas would be an interesting idea.

I thought of that one too, and I liked the fact that it is introduced as a refreshing training after a bad fall the protagonist had before the game’s events, as it really places it in the storyline. But after that, I can think of no game with a training level, or at least one which insert itself in the game’s story.

I think u all need to wait and see how it’s going to work out, just trust the devs

Our Course’s layout is far too large to make a hub reasonable. There would be tons of walking. Sorry for the monster pic, too lazy to resize.

You may have to open that in a new tab. Just wanna point out that this overview is months old and pretty decently outdated.

Compare

just looking at that I can tell that most the map is in mid to early WIP.

Who’s Spaghetti?

Writer. He doesn’t hang on the forum very often. Or at all, it would seem.

It’s all always a WIP until you’re playing it. Don’t look at it too heavily in terms of completion, just off the top of my head I can think of multiple things that have been changed heavily since that overview was put together.

For instance, the pick-up room is still the ugly old version.

The layout of the Hazard Course mod looks really good. Do you think there will be a new version of the layout when it gets close to release?

It’s a possibility. This one was made due to my own curiosity a few months ago, it wasn’t intended to go public until very recently (This thread in particular was a tiny motivator in that).
I wouldn’t be against the idea of making another one at all, though. If that’s what you people want, and the rest of the team is okay with, I don’t see any issues.

Well, aside from us and our testers, anyway. We’ll certainly play it to death.

As for the overview, I’m all for it if you want to put the time in.

Seems like the original layout is overlapping a lot. Still, I figured the HC remake would be more compact on itself and that you would be able to see the path you’re following from a distance, but eh I’m not gonna ask you to completely change the whole map. :stuck_out_tongue:

For what would constitute the disused water treatment station, you can probably add logic to that in the likes of the Residue Processing chapter where you’re following the processing, so to speak. For example, the crouch/jumping area looks a bit like a pump station, with all those pipes leading to the center where the survey team have their rooms, and then there are all those silos and large pipes to stock the treated water.

Just for curiosity, are you involved in guard’s duty Hazard Course too?
(I’ve seen Crypt in the Tripmine forums with a “developer” label).

As funny as that would be, nope. I work on a chapter late in Operation Black Mesa.

The entire course is odd like that. You go from apparent missile silo, to water treatment, to warehouses, and back to water treatment. I guess if you assume the course is being recycled (like we are) then it could explain the length, and how stretched out it is.

Those are some really good ideas. We’ll see what we can do about them.

Which chapter or map?
And how do you plan to survive consistency porn fanatics like me and other people out there?
(there are many versions of the same things)

Foxtrot Uniform.

Mostly by not paying attention to them. But honestly, if we for some reason weren’t prepared before, the HC Skype group has definitely done it. :jizz:

What is the HC skype group?

(and even if I don’t mind some differences, part of the fun in O4 and BS was seeing old locations in new light)

It’s a Skype group that the HC team and testers use primarily to communicate. Some weird shit goes down sometimes. :zip:

Tripmine’s got it’s own forum to discuss OBM and GD. Back to HC, plz

Ups, :stuck_out_tongue:

I tend to go off rails easily.

Sorry.
