Anybody else surprised at how much attention the page has gotten so quickly? ~3k views in less than a day, number 10 of 18k mods, and 84 watchers. That’s kind of a lot.
Yeah.
So how about let’s actually deliver on this? It’s kind of a huge deal…
Yeah, if this dies I think people will be lining up at our doors with torches and pitchforks.
We are now mini Black Mesa devs.
Oh, the humanity.
BOX! WE DEMAND EDIT AND UPLOAD PERMISSIONS!
Ill be editing the settings within 6 hours, got other pain in the asses today
You’ve got 16 minutes.
In my opinion, the main page summary needs to be completely rewritten. It’s looks sloppy, has some grammar issues, and is worded a bit oddly.
I’ll volunteer to rewrite it. People usually go to me for English language editing anyway.
BOX! PERMISSIONS! NOW!
Problem solved - everyone got permissions now.
Are you guys going to have a open beta?
Maybe. Its a small modification, so we might eventually release parts, but I can’t promise you anything
I think we’ve said like, 5 times that we’ll discuss beta-testing later on, if I remember correctly. If I had to say from my personal perspective, since we’re trying to be more open then Black Mesa (and likely many other mod) I personally don’t see the harm in some extensive external testing. Of course, no giving out the build willy-nilly, but I don’t think a semi-open beta would hurt.
Releasing in parts seems unnecessary, it’s pretty small.
I’ll do a few small touch-ups now, until you get around to it.
Right oh, cheers for the info!
You never told me that though…
If Lars will ever reads this, would you mind sharing your ModDB name?
Or if you havent one, can you make one?
Oops, double post .
Assuming you’re speaking to me,
As far as I know, none of us have had any discussion on the topic outside of, ‘we’ll think about it.’
I went ahead and added the screenshot that Jeff was gonna add but couldn’t at the time.
Wat
I don’t see the point of an open beta. We could always just release it and perpetually support it until everything gets ironed out, kind of like what Valve did with a bunch of games.
It’s not like it would be a ridiculous undertaking, after all.
True, but no one likes broken software. I was thinking a sort of closed beta type of thing. Give builds to select forum members who are interested and see what they spit back at us.
Right. Closed beta sounds like just the thing we’d want.
Once we get everything orangemapped, we can start the preliminary testing. It’ll probably be easier to root out logic/entity bugs as early on as possible.
By the way, what happened to the “Open Positions” news article? It got deleted? :brow:
