Hazard Course Remake (AVAILABLE NOW!)

Yo, guys. Quick update so ya know what’s what.
The full article is over on ModDB, but I’ll be brief right here and leave you with the mediaz.

First, we’re almost out of Alpha and into Beta.
Secondly, our script is almost finished.
Lastly, we need a choreographer that’s far more skilled than I am, so look into that if you’ve got the chops.

Anyway new pictures!
JeffMOD, handling the tram training.

It does need a bit of a detail pass.

Jif and I on the holobutton.

We think it’s about done.

As usual, we’re open to suggestions, questions, blah blah blah, criticism, discussion, etc. etc. Okay, very good.
Hopefully we’ll have some more good news (and media) for you soon.

Nice to hear the project is moving on to beta, though good luck for finding a skilled choreographer.

The holo-button is perfect. It looks functional and simple to use. One suggestion for the interface though, maybe add a line to indicate which holographic assistant is being used (here Gina Cross).

Now for the tram room, you should try and make it look like a small docking station for unloading crates, maybe with a crane and its control booth. Considering the tram only appears in this part of Sector A, it would seem logical to have one here, to bring in furnitures and equipment from Sector E. That said, the room looks better than the first version from your previous screenshots.

Holobutton looks great! Pauolo’s suggestion is nice if you have time.

I also wanna second the suggestion to put more stuff into the tram room. It’s rather big and empty. The suggestion of furnature actually sounds really good to me, as the Hazard Course is nearby the dorms, is it not?

It is a good suggestion.

That room hasn’t gone through a proper detail pass yet, though it will be very soon. I do like the docking station idea, that suits the surrounding area quite well.

Is the holobutton animated?

Very.

I didn’t read all pages of this thread, so i probably missed the answers to my questions.

1.When complete, you guys are going to put this level with the Black Mesa itself, or just a side mod?

2.Will the course be larger, harder and longer then the original or will be the same?

It’s an add-on for Black Mesa. So while it’s not officially going to be part of the game, you will require BM and the Hazard Course will be run through Black Mesa’s menu via an added menu option.

The course will be about the same as the original in difficulty, but is built to a scale similar to the rest of the remade areas in Black Mesa, meaning that most areas will be slightly larger or longer. We’ve also added the extended intro from the PS2 version of the game.

And there are small general extensions between some areas throughout to help them flow better. Nothing major for the most part, but they certainly add a tad bit of length as well.

Are there any possibilities for this mod to be compatible with ST Uncut, OaR Uncut and other expansion mods?

As it’s not part of the main storyline there’s no chance of incompatibilities.

At most you’ll need to rebuild your scenes.image yourself and install a caption patch if you want. Otherwise, should be good to go.

The only exception is the possibility of the scenes.image file. Any other expansion that uses a custom scenes.image file will not be compatible out of the box. You’ll have to rebuild the scenes.image file before it will work.

EDIT: Ninja’d by 6 minutes? O.o

Step yo game up, DKY. :freeman:

Looking good

How is this going? Is it abandoned?

Not abandoned, just slowed down by life.
We all just happened to have a lot of stuff pop up at around the same time that’s prevented us from doing much lately. Rest assured we do still plan on finishing and releasing HC, and all the source files are still intact and waiting for us to have time to finish them.

Also the lack of a choreographer has got things in a bit of a chokehold. Honestly we’d probably have contacted VA’s by now if we had someone competent.

We do have the script done and some placeholder VA, but we don’t want to bother any of the actual VAs until we’ve been able to run it by our testing panel to make sure we won’t need any major rewrites.

So like, if anyone is wondering why we’ve slowed down, it’s really almost entirely because we don’t have a choreographer. So it would be real cool if someone could help us out in any way, even indirectly.
