Has Garry Gottn' Greedy?

Yes for those wondering what i mean i recently went to the .com of garry’s mod and found this article right on the home page.

https://www.garrysmod.com/news/

to sum it up you will now have to pay to use garrysmod.org in order to download DLC.

if you havnt looked at the date they posted the article … your a complete sucker.

I was about to say the same to you, until I scrolled down.

He also stated that he wishes that he “Posted it last night.”

But it’s obviously April Fool’s anyway, he’s trying too hard.

That was not garry that said that Adam, if you look at his profile it said a guest posted that.

Garry got greedy when Gmod10 came out.

^this.

Who cares about this guy.

LOl that’s a funny April fools joke.

Now that’s just redic-- What’s this? April 1st, 2010?

lol.

I thought it was pretty good. Not as good as the one a few days prior about Penny Arcade with the title Gabe says Epsiode 3 Cancelled, though.

Oh boo-hoo. Garry’s Mod is awesome.

Anyway, I almost fell for this, until I realized the day it was posted on.

Yeah, I thinking “charging for downloadable content on a game that entirely depends on just that? Dick move.”

Then I was all like: OHWAITAMINUTE

Sneaky little bastard.

It is his website and he has to pay for the bandwidth, but on the other side, it simply isn’t his content. It’s made by the GMod users!
The people should just begin to upload their stuff elsewhere, in my opinion.

Did the joke fly over your head?

Or am I missing the point here?

Well, to pay for the conent was a joke, but you still have to buy GMod and register for being able to download anything from that page from now on.

And what’s wrong with having to buy a game? C’mon, it’s only ten bucks, and you can get a lot more entertainment value out of it than that.

It’s meh.

It actually kind of is. It was cool when it was a free distraction, but now…

You are missing the point. I am talking about making the community created content only available to GMod owners, while this content is made by community and not by the authors of the game. That’s like making FPSBanana only accessible, if you verify, that you owned the game you wanna download content for.

I don’t buy games, I neither wanna have nor wanna play. Even if they are available for only $1. And to make it clear: I am not a pirate!

I for example used free (community-made) GMod content for replacing models or skins of my legal owned HL2 and now it’s impossible.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
