This Christmas I’ve been thinking of upgrading my Graphics Card. However, I want to be sure that I can use the graphics card I’ve been looking at (the last one I bought was not compatible with my monitor or power source, and I had to buy a new one of each). In short: Will a 650 Watt powersource be sufficient to power a GS250?

Unfurtunately no. Try getting a card that requires less power.
What would be an adequate power supply for this card (that’s not too expensive)?
EDIT: It says on Newegg that it requires: “Minimum 400 Watt Power Supply”. So what made you come to the conclusion that 650 watts is not enough?
A 650 watt PSU will be plenty for that card, I am running a 275 on a 650 watt and it works fine. I have no idea where Hazzmat got that idea.
Now you just need to make sure the card fits in your case, so you don’t have to cut a hole in your PC.
Lol @ Hazmat. The OP wanted an answer based on fact, not something pulled out of your ass and presented as fact.
To Repzik - yes it should be plenty. I have that card and a 500w PSU, 3 HDD’s, an AMD 7850, 4GB RAM, 2 optical drives, a fan speed controller, several case fans etc etc, and it all runs from that PSU just fine. Just make sure it fit’s your case, and you have the right PSU connectors for the card. Also I heard that some GFX cards like dual 12v rail PSU’s better, (safer from power surges or something iirc), although I don’t know much more about that.
I can’t seem to find the size for it, but I can fit my current card in my case just fine (it’s about a foot long or so).
EDIT: Found the size, will definitely fit. Thanks for your help guys! I can now replace my old and burnt 9800.
650W is fine.
Problem if and only if u go for SLI/CrossFire setup.
I’m only going for one card, so I’ll be fine. Thank you all for the helpful responses.

This is the first thing that comes up when I search for “PSU Calc”

You’re such an ass. :meh:
The total system draw for a GTS 250 is less than 300W. The mentioned PSU should be fine.
I tend to suggest the 5770 over the GTS 250 because they are the same price, but the 5770 is more powerful, while requiring less power from your PSU. It’s also a smaller card that is compatible with DX11…Unless you are a team green fan. There is nothing wrong with a GTS 250 for most people.
Aww, methinks someone doesn’t like it pointed out when they’re wrong.
