Happy Birthday Half-life!

Wow! Fantastic news guys, you deserve it! Can’t wait to load up Steam one day and see Black Mesa there on the store page.

I will not devolve in to HL3 conspiracy theories. No I wont. I’m above that.

But I reeealy want too.

Very excited for the official Steam release. Congratulations guys.

Awesome! I’ll be glad to pay for it, you guys have done an AMAZING job! I loved the free version.

Oh, and I forgot to say, awesome for you guys! Glad to see your amazing work will finally be rewarded with money.

I’ll gladly pay for this. Part of me really wants one of the “improvements” of the paid version on the new engine to be dynamic shadows cast by all light sources for some reason.

I’m not sure if this was mentioned anywhere, but is DM planned to be included with the Steam release?

I’m OK with this.

At least there was some news on half life’s birthday!

I recall in the past one of the developers stating that one of the reasons the mod couldn’t be sold as a product was that there have been so many different people working on the mod across it’s lifetime. This would have been it a legal disaster to determine who gets paid, how much they’d be paid, etc etc.

I’m assuming this has been sorted out and also that it was an actual thing someone said that my brain didn’t just decide to make up sometime ago.

I understand if your contracts don’t allow you to say anything on it, but will past developers who aren’t working on it anymore still be compensated? Has all of their materials been flushed out for current ones made by current team members? Will only current team members be paid? Please elaborate if at all possible.

We really can’t talk about this type of stuff publicly. That’s internal information. Sorry.

I expected as much, can’t blame me for trying. No worries though, thanks for closing that end and not totally ignoring it.

As the announcement states, we’ll be revealing more information about the free and steam versions of Black Mesa in subsequent announcements.

Awesome, thanks.

You’re welcome. I know how redundant the response sounds but that’s really all I can say.

To everyone else, the team is seriously humbled by all of the support and we’d like to thank all of you for sticking with us!

Didn’t the Portal 2 implementation of that limit it to one source at a time?

Yes!, now someone can finally make the coop mod!

So does this make Black Mesa official canon? :retard:

Awesome! Congratulations. I’ll definitely buy it if I can.

Yes.

Original HL will be completely erased from Valve’s servers the day BM is released, and never spoken about again.

I’m seeing a lot of duplicate (or similar) questions. Perhaps an FAQ might be useful, even if a lot of the entries will be “Can’t tell/NDA”?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
