Hammer 3.4 Skybox's

Well another question. A hugely necessary one at that, I can’t seem to find any answers over the internet. Well, on with the question.

In Hammer 3.4(I decided to map for 1.6 for whatever reason) I don’t seem to be able to find the texture required to make a Sky. When I type in ‘dev’ nothing appears and alot of people say that I have to do just that. Well anyway, does anyone know how I could get this certain texture?

Thanks for any help.

Try ‘tools’ or ‘skybox’.

tools/toolsskybox

or

tools/toolsskybox2d

The texture is named sky. VALVe, nor anybody else uses the naming method used for Source engine maps.

I don’t have any of them things. I’ve just relised how very little I do I have. No ‘nodraw’ or ‘noclip’ or anything along them lines. Anybody got an answer?

Try reinstalling Hammer or Half Life, it should reinstall all the the textures, and then you can search for it again.

Oh for half-life. I just done it immediatly for Counterstrike. I downloaded 3.5 anyway so I have that and need to set it up. Thanks for the help.

Nodraw is called null, and iirc, only usable when ZHLT is installed. And you have to tell hammer which textures to use, which are located in wad files. Halflife.wad is one of the standard ones, zhlt.wad contains several dev textures. You’ll probably have to extract the wad files from the gcf files to get them, so get GCFscape to do that.

I know but thanks solokiller. The problem is completely solved so thanks to everyone that helped. I’ve got much better grips on good old 3.5 now. The maps seem to be compiling fine with lighting ect.

Thanks again to all.
