Half-Life Series General Inquiries

No.

i haven’t seen a old guy with initiative ever in hl games

Only been 20 years, doesn’t mean they’re all as old as Citizen_08

sigh Race X is not Real, or as we say on this forum, not canon. It was just a filler for OP4. Gearbox is a totally different company feom Valve and they decided (under Valves permision) that they could make sequals to Half-Life, but none of it realy happend. The only thing that was canon in OP4 was the Nuke that destroyed Black Mesa in the end of the game. I seconed your appinion on how there arent enough aliens in HL2, especiallly in Episode 2 where i thought we would encounter houdeyes or bullsquids.

Nova Prospekt was fallling apart because antlions and Antlion guards had gotten in.

nova prospekt … was falling apart mostly because all of that combine metal going though it … , they didn’t make any aestethic changes to it… the antlions had 30% role too tho’…

Does anyone agree that Lemarr is a Mel Brooks reference?

Lemarr
Hedley Lemarr
Heady Lemarr (the name everyone keeps calling him)
Heady
headcrab

Or is it just a coincidence
Oh and it’s from Blazing Saddles if anyone wants the source

That’s actually kinda funny

Sorry to burst your power of observations bubble but Lamarr is actually a reference to ‘Hedy Lamarr’ who was an actress… or so I have read from numerous sources…

Still, nice link though.

Race X had nothing to do with the Combine, they were just something GearBox threw into Op4 to give it an interesting twist of sorts.

There’s alot of arguments about whether it’s canon or not as well, and I usually don’t take sides on such things… but I’d assume that if it was, the Combine would have crushed them just as easily as they took over the earth, seeing as how we never see them again.

I think what is meant by them being the combine, is that they could be another race, from another world controlled by the advisors. Possible that they were the frontal assault until humans could be converted into combine soldiers. But that’s just my way of making sense of it.

It’s possible to actually take one of them down from the ground in this section with the ammo that you have. If you hit the one with 3 RPG rounds at the start, and then hit it with the SMG and AR2 alternate fire, that’s just enough to kill one. Oddly enough, it reappears once you go into the building, although it doesn’t smash the place up as much.

I think the falling apart had something to do with the teleport being recharged too quickly after its use. I imagine that Eli and Mossman could have escaped using a teleport in the Citadel, considering they used one to get there.

Nova Prospekt was falling apart possibly also due to the fact that they were using the teleport twice within about 10 minutes, and as someone said, the second was to Kleiner’s lab, whose teleport may not be compatible with the Combine’s.
Or it could be just localized shaking and such, since the teleport is actually being used, as I recall it did similar things when Mossman/Eli exited

edit: yeah what he said^

I always thought that the antlions also had a part in making Nova Prospekt falling apart. I mean, they were breaking down walls and burrowing all around underneath it.

I’m really not sure it was actually “falling apart” at that point. I mean, is there evidence that it is, besides camera shakes and rumbles as we teleport away?

but yes the antlions probably had something to do with it, ruining structural integrity and all

I’ve always assumed it did fall apart, and that’s what lead the teleporter to blowing up. Maybe the floor beneath the teleporter collapsed while Gordon and Alyx were teleporting and due to some electrical stuff it blew up.

Hedy Lamarr was also a famous scientist. She invented a form of Spread-Spectrum communication.

I think this thread was started specifically to answer questions that are not for starting debate. Or did you not read interlopers first post?

OMG this means I was 90% right… just didn’t know the reference to the reference!!1!!!one

now I have to google her to see if there is any resemblance to a headcrab on her part

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
