I heard somewhere that you could put half-life on a usb flash drive in a way that you could plug it into a computer and start playing no instillation needed. Is this possible with a 4gig and how do I do it?
What the… I’m pretty sure you’d have to install it. butt I don’t know for a fact, so this post was pretty useless.
I did it with non-steam version
Care to enlighten Garthbatin or are you talking bollocks?
Thank you.
works with WON Version
EDIT: I have the WON Version and can’t register it on steam and the steam support doesn’t let me register the version
download only if you have the legal steam version that you bought.
If you didn’t buy it and download anyway you are a very bad person.
Somebody plz tell me how?
It seems like you all know how to do this but none of you will tell me how. ):<
Thanks, Sersoft pm’d me the solution.
hmmmmmmmmmmmm interesting have to try it
Well, if you have the WON version, then I assume you can do a standalone version fairly simply.
A standalone Steam version is far more complicated and would involve a Steam emulator and other such things, the discussion of which is, I believe, verboten, since it breaks Steam’s EULA.
Doesn’t HL require registry entries for the CD keys and such?
Yep, thinking the same thing
It can be done with a standalone ilegal version. As sersoft said, if you own an orignal copy, then its not too bad. If not, your a very naughty boy.
Hell, you can do it with most games now-a-days. At least, standalone singleplayer games you can. I’ve bought games, installed them on one computer, patched it all, then realized I should of done it on another, so I either just copy all the installed information to a dvd, or just to another harddrive. Either way, about 7 times out of 10, it’ll work.
I am currently attempting to do this with a downloaded no-steam copy of HL2, but it’s just a few megabytes to big for my flash drive. Does anybody know what files I could delete without causing any problems and remove about 100 megabytes? Maybe, if there are any, files that are only needed for running mods?
