lol like they have a plan
He didn’t deny a Half Life 3 Christmas announcement…He just said “Any trolling is not part of our plan.” Sneaky, Marc, sneaky.
Sorry for the double post but… https://www.black-aperture.com
WHAZZ HAPPENIN’?
Snowing Lambdas? Cute.
And it’s snowing lambda’s on the site.
<-----
How cute.
Anyways, I won’t say its fake, but won’t get my hopes up either.
It’s fake… But lambdas are cute :3
Why thank you.
You are welcome
It is actually. Pareidolia:
Every time HL and 3 are in the same sentence, someone thinks it means something. Right now it would seem that Valve might be playing into that. However, It is equally possible that a troll may be using this association to prank the internet. There may be something to all this but I am still not yet convinced. A plurality of anecdotes does not equal evidence.
Blinged out pimp Santa Sleigh… of course one of them is wearing a gold Lambda medallion. It is the one symbol in the Valve IP library that lends itself best to bling jewelry.
The stockings hung by the chimney with care? Of all of Valve’s IP’s it makes so much sense to have the three of them under one roof. Need I remind that Alyx really likes Gordon? Valve has done Christmasy things before that went nowhere meant nothing more than festive cheer.
The newspaper? Meh, I already talked about that one. The fact that image manipulation was needed to bring it out I find unimpressive. Too many other things can be done during the ‘manipulation’ process.
Snowing Lambdas? Cute, but Google has search eggs like that and even YouTube has a snow button right now.
So far, my interest is piqued but I am still reserved in my judgement. Start from the basis that nothing on the internet is true and go from there. I really and truly hope I am wrong… but so far I haven’t seen enough. If a significant update in HL2, Ep1 or Ep2 turns up like Portal had, then I might be more likely to lend credence to this.
Remember, P(n)anecdote =/= evidence
Put down the crack pipe, seriously. You have a problem and should seek therapy before this gets out of hand and you hurt someone
No one from Valve has actually stated that any of the recent “references” (websites, imagery etc) are fake. What they have repeatedly stated is that the “references” are not part of a Half Life ARG which is not the same thing a a formal denial. The devil’s in the details. You can still have a substantive viral marketing campaign without an ARG. I am not saying that there actually is a marketing campaign ongoing but there is no proof there isn’t either. And honestly, some of the rational people are using to claim the two sites are fake are pretty dumb.
Your post makes perfectly good sense and you have a good point. Until the last sentence.
I don’t know if I should be offended or not, because I have no idea what you are trying to say.
“…the rational people are using to claim…”
Using what to make their claims? I’m using a healthy dose of Skepticism and good old common sense to state my opinions on the matter. I do not recall having made any actual claims. In fact, if you go back and check, you’ll find that I have weighed in on both sides. That said, the evidence presented thus far seems pretty thin at best.
And yes, when you said Rational People, I assumed you included me because I am a Skeptic. (note the capitol S) Rational thinking is part and parcel of Skepticism. So is being open to be proven wrong.
Trust nothing without proof, trust no one without evidence.
Why should I trust this or you?
Thinking about that quote is the same as dividing my zero.
The guy says you cant trust anyone, so how do you know if you should trust the guy that says not to trust anyone? If you don’t trust him, you don’t believe that you should not trust anyone…
Anyways, ontopic.
Sorry, that was a typo. No offense intended. I meant to say rationale, not rational. For that I apologize.
Half Life 3 , next year /thread
Frankly, you shouldn’t. Unless I am able to present credible evidence or citations, you should only take what I say under advisement for consideration.
:S That’s fair. I suppose you’re right.
No worries! Like I said, I wasn’t sure so I thought it best to address it in an intelligent manner.
Oh, I was just joking.
Just gathering every we have up so far:
This is the clue the pretty much proves that David Hassen is in relation with Valve:
Lookup for black-aperture.com : https://www.whois.net/whois/black-aperture.com
Lookup for half-life3.com, which directs to orange.half-life2.com (which apparently can’t be looked up itself): https://www.whois.net/whois/half-life3.com
In the black-aperture.com lookup:
“Registrant:
Hassen, David
ATTN BLACK-APERTURE.COM
care of Network Solutions
PO Box 459
Drums, PA. US 18222
Domain Name: BLACK-APERTURE.COM”
In the half-life3.com lookup:
Registrant:
Valve Corporation
ATTN HALF-LIFE3.COM
care of Network Solutions
PO Box 459
Drums, PA. US 18222
Domain Name: HALF-LIFE3.COM
First of all, half-life3.com is owned by Valve according to the lookup and also directs to orange.half-life2.com, an official Valve website you can visit. The lambda on black-aperture.com also links to orange.half-life2.com.
Now, look at the addresses. Both sport the same PO box located in the same city. This may prove black-aperture.com is affiliated with Valve.
Going even further (at this point I’m just blindly making up cool shit), the half-life3.com record expires 28-Jun-2012, while the black-aperture record expires 19-Dec-2012. This period of time may hold the announcement or even release of Half-Life 3.
Another fun fact: the date half-life3.com was first recorded was on 28-Jun-1999, which happens to be the day when Half-Life GOTY edition was released. On June 28, 2005, “Valve opened the Valve Developer Community Wiki.” (quoted from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Source_(game_engine)); Half-Life 2: Survivor was released June 28, 2006. Nothing Valve-cannon related was released or announced on December 19th of any year.
In the half-life3.com lookup, “Database last updated on 25-Dec-2011 23:55:30 EST.” This may suggest Valve is preparing the website with new content, currently hidden on an address that redirects to orange.half-life2.com.
As we know, a Half-Life 3 t-shirt was allegedly seen on a valve employee: https://www.pcgamer.com/2011/12/02/valve-employee-wears-half-life-3-shirt-trolls-internet/
The shirt is inverse in design of the logo on black-aperature.com, which features the logo with the lambda as the centerpiece and a 3 as the corner piece.
We know that the Aperture is the lab in Portal. Why Black Aperture, and why associate Portal with Half-Life? Could this suggest Gordon and/or co. may visit Aperture labs or meet a character(s) in Portal? Black Mesa…Black Aperture…Aperture Labs. Maybe these two labs had something in common when they were created?
*Edit: After some research I now know a lot more about the relationship between Aperture and Black Mesa. It looks like the next HL will involve the Borealis and the main character from Portal. I have yet to play Portal 2.
At https://lambdageneration.com/posts/valve-teases-half-life-3-through-hidden-steam-store-image-and-more-strange-half-life-hints-and-clues/
Many clues are revealed that further suggest the soon to come announcement of a third Half-Life installment, including a lambda necklace with three shiny spots found in a seemingly random Steam store Christmas image and a backwards three and an image of a lambda in a new TF2 comic.
At https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/12/12/valve-vga-vid-appears-to-offer-hl3-clues/#more-85624 the new Valve VGA video offers even more clues suggesting Half-Life 3 is up next for announcement.
Of course the Gabe Newell poem: https://www.computerandvideogames.com/319860/newell-cruelly-teases-half-life-2-episode-3-release/
