Half-Life 3 Ideas

Yes I know what you are all thinking… “Oh, stupid thread.” But no, I’m posting this thread because I want to see what hardcore Half-Life and VALVE fans think should be in Half-Life 3. No I do not work for VALVE in any shape or form or way.

Anyways, I think the second half will be in the Wasteland.

I’m pretty sure there are already like 3 threads for this.

yes there is a thread JUST like this.

A little searching never hurt anyone.

exactly^

That thread is about plot. I think he created this topic to talk about the game in general. Locations, game mechanics, new enemies, et cetera.

I want a return of some HL1 weapons, or at least more outlandish weapons in the same vein. I’d happily ditch the AR2 and smg for one assault rifle if it meant I could have a nice badass alien weapon again.

Yeah, I’m talking about locations, game mechanics, new locations, new weapons, new enemies…

I hope the Panthereye appears, maybe the Bullsquid. And I’ve always thought in HL3 we might visit The Wasteland.

speaking of old weapons, i haven´t seen gluon gun for a while

HL3 needs smarter humanoid enemies that do more than just shoot at me, take cover and occasionally try to flank me or flush me out with grenades. In fact, something analogous to the Assassin from HL1 needs to make a return but which applies more clever tactics to try to get me.

An improved version of the animation techniques used for the zombies in the L4D games. The animation for the combine soldiers in HL2 was good enough for 2004, but technology has moved on and if HL3 pretends to compete directly with the latest in gaming, they at least need to have the combine soldiers to move around as realistically as the L4D zombies, including the way they react to being hit.

Bigger puzzles that may take a whole level to complete, interspersed with combat sequences.

Keep the game progression linear but make the levels a bit more open and with more paths to take.

Related to the idea above, add stealth elements. Take some cues from Deus Ex and add ways for players to be able sneak around enemies in certain levels. If you can sneak on an enemy from behind, a whack from the crowbar should be a one hit kill.

Well, does anyone else think they should recycle the beta concepts of HL2 into HL3 or HL2 EP3? I mean, does anyone else want to visit the Wasteland? And I’m dying to fight a Gargantua again.

Maybe… We could see an MP5K, and the return of the Beta OICW… maybe the Tau Cannon? I’ve always wanted to take off the Tau Cannon off the Scout Car and use it as a weapon. Then when I need it for the Scout Car, I can put it back on.

Did you just reply to yourself? Wow man, you have issues.

He meant to switch accounts but didn’t realize he typed it in to the wrong window.

I agree with Maxey, that is until the stealth elements. I’l play splinter cell or something if I want to sneak about.

I mean, give you the option to sneak, not force it on you.

Yeah I know where your coming from, I’m just yet to find a primarily FPshooter that manages to mix both stealth and action well.

Deus Ex does it, but it isn’t necessarily a FPshooter. With shooters there is always something to be desired in either the shooting elements or the stealth ones. It’s usually the stealth that suffers, becoming tedious and trial and error to an irritating degree, especially with achievements. The game is usually designed to reward a certain style over the other too, which just diminishes the point of the choice in the first place.

Personally I’d just prefer them to give me an awesome shooting experience with puzzle elements. Keep working on that imo, but to each their own.

I’m with you until the last paragraph. No stealth in a Half Life game please.

No… No

terrible terrible …memories of…assassins… :fffuuu: :fffuuu:
