Half life 2 weird graphics problem

Hey everyone,
I’m registrated to this forum, however I’ve followed it for a long period of time.
I have a problem with my half life 2 graphics (no problem with episode 1 and 2) and it starts at black mesa east chapter. Already uninstalled and re-installed it. Hope you guys could help me
Thx at advance:freeman:

Apart from the low quality settings, I don’t see anything wrong.

Let me guess, you’re playing on a laptop with an Intel graphics card?

don’t see anything wrong except that ufo on top of your head
or the lack of shadows

can you explain in words what’s wrong?

nope, a pc with nvidia 62, sry but i’m noob at pc talk:p, what quality can change that?

Hey, I play Garrysmod 10 with an on-board Intel Chipset. It sucks, but it still works.

  1. Your Graphics are just at the lowest
  2. That UFO is the magnet
  3. Get a better system or just deal with your current graphics.

Thats pretty much your diagnosis.

Well they look as if they are set on the lowest settings, however when i look at video=> advanced everything just is on high, pretty weird :frowning:

When you set your graphic, press apply instead of okay and make sure you have set them.

Doesn’t matter if you set it at highest if the game is running at a lower DirectX version, check that out

also thats not a magnet that is a ufo

Update your video and sound drivers.

Also update directx.

idd, but the strange thing is that before the hl2 achievement update everything worked fine , i had the normal graphics

A UFO implies it’s flying, which it most certainly is not! It is hanging!

It’s not an UFO, it’s a streetlight!

the update fucked you over. I have the same problem with my older pc, though the newer one works flawlessly.

Go figure.

are you seriously saying to me that ufo’s fly?
hahaha

oh come on

everyone knows ufo’s hang! you can see it all in the blurry photographs around the world!

I once had a GeForce FX 5200, and was able to run quite a few of the settings on high. The only problems I had then were with the HDR and anti-aliasing.

Seeing that picture reminds me of a glitch I had in Half Life 2, after the fuck-update where the skybox was screwed up and the map was on fullbright. Then I realized that turning on the HDR option fixed that problem.

Make sure mat_fullbright is set to 0 in the console.

opened console, typed=> mat_fullbright 0, restarted game, nothing happened :frowning:

you mean with that ‘bloom’ thing, I have it on, nothing happened :frowning: , maybe something with the ‘bloom’ bar?

HDR not bloom
