Half-life 2 update

Well yes, I can only Google for images atm, since I don’t have access to the games here. But it still look better!

Yeah, i took those, still not good examples :frowning: Top ones OK
.

Hard Rain has yummy water and weather effects, indeed.

Water full of Boomer bile + shitloads of annoying grain effect = not a good way to show off the new Source water shader.

What exactly do you mean with “thats about all it does right”?

There is no problem in turning off HD characters and CM music o.O!?

I think you just volunteered :expressionless: You’d better run max setting BIATCH!!! :rage: :stuck_out_tongue:

The additions to the maps are horrible. The “upgraded” textures are horrible. The bump in shader-stuff looks horrible. The new sounds sound horrible. The new music sounds horrible. The new models look horrible.

So yea, that dynamic light thing is the only thing it does right.

Maybe that guy should release a mod with just that.

I thought you people said the coast levels had HDR!

AAAAHHHH

Try setting r_fullbright to 0

Wait, I thought it was mat_fullbright. (which does exist)

Edit: r_fullbright, which does not exist, did nothing.

well, r_fullbright was the hl1 version. But it’s quite obvious that the map in your screenshot has fullbright lighting.

…Which is what I’m upset about. In any case, I tried it again in Anticitizen One, and it worked. A quick quick load solved the prop lighting, too. I’m not sure why it didn’t work in Highway 17.

I have a full schedule, plus I don’t feel like it.

in that case, you have failed at the simplest task.

And fyi everyone, this arguement was mildly pointless. I’m playing HL2 now, and it still has the old HL2 water too. The kind that has too many refractions, the surface looks like a pile of static. Too many ripples, too often.
.

does this new mac version work on pc?

Still looks better than Crysis water, even if it’s less realistic (try getting your head around that)

No, but it’ll work on Java-compatible cellphones.

Oh, so it makes more sense to only update SOME of the maps?

Yeah, it would obviously be large; HDR compiled maps are large… which is why many people thought it would be an optional update much like the HD pack for HL. Seeing how they’re doing things now with Steamplay, Cloud, etc. that doesn’t make as much sense, but Valve told the community the 360 graphical update was coming at least 3 times and we kind of got half an update. Would all the HDR maps bog down their servers? For a while sure. But so do new game releases, which happen all the time.

All I’m saying: only giving us some HDR maps is odd. “All or none” would be the more obvious choices, the former being my favorite.

Yeah, so its probably not possible to do such an awesome feat on Source then huh?

Unless they’re planning on adding the recompiled maps in phases

I suppose that’s always a possibility if the bandwidth is really that hard to accommodate. Strange they wouldn’t just come out and state that though.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
