Half-life 2 update

I’ve not really played it yet, but I’m assuming they implemented the L4D2 water shaders?

L4D2 has the sexiest water effects I’ve seen in a game thus far.
.

Yeah, me too, I unlock like 23 achievements with that mod, thanks to that guy.

I don’t think so, since they only updated to the OB engine, not the L4D2 one.

Sorry, multiple post because I was using my sister’s iPhone.
Ep1’s vort still using 2004 vort

The global dynamic shadows from Cinematic Mod do look damn tasty, I must say. But that’s about all it does right.

Been a while since I played Ep2, so not sure if that one had global dynamic shadows, or only when the flashlight was on.

Yeah, but it’s from Cinematic Mod, so it sucks on principle.

There were only dynamic shadows on the flashlight and during the Gman speech.

I will

:frowning:

;_;

Since when do you play computer games or how much games did you play?
L4D2’s water effects are nice but not the sexiest.

(this is the point where you back up your claims by posting videos or screenshots)

See: Crysis

Is that the game where everything is made from plastic?

No, that’s Doom 3. And Far Cry. And Deus Ex (in name only) 2.

You’re right, I was looking at the wrong maps. The coast maps, nova prospekt, and the first map of black mesa east have HDR. So a few maps have it, and the rest don’t. Why on earth would they do such a thing?

All I ever really wanted to see different in HL2’s water is a little “wave” effect at the coast lines. Having that same water texture all the way up to the beach was ugly :frowning:

The word has its graphics power inside. No need for screenshots or videos.

#1: Because updating all the maps would result in an update that’s gigabytes in size.
#2: those wave effects are done using overlays, and there’s a low limit of those (512).

Really impressive.

I can take screenshots of Crysis running at low settings too.

:expressionless: Say that in a way that I can understand you, then we’ll be in business

There’s something about Crysis water effects that put my off. I thought L4D2 had more realistic looking water, the way it rippled, the depth, is far improved from HL2 water, which I never thought was that great…

vs

I prefer the HL2 one (which is outdated in terms of engine by now)… Only thing crysis got going is the wrinkly effect around the rocks.

That’s not even the best Source Engine example imho, no offence. I’ll try and get a show of what I’m talking about.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
