Half-Life 2 Opposing Force storyline

This is So horrible no one can see it anymore.

That’s not a story, that’s not even the first page of a story!

I actually came up with a long story back when I worked on a Opposing Force 2 mod (my own mod).
Although it wasn’t as much about exploring what happened to Shepard, I just used him as a character because then I didn’t have to establish a new one, I wanted to show what I imagined happened in the US after the Combine invasion. It was set in a wasteland somewhere around Texas or New Mexico.

It was a pretty good alternative to the other Opposing Force 2 mod storylines, which I think are really generic, and not really fitting into the HL universe (no offense to anybody :stuck_out_tongue: )

I guess I could write it if someone was interested, but I doubt it.

Gearbox and Bungie teamed up and made Shepherd the protagonist of ODST.

He became a world famous cook and had a pie named after him

Shepard Pie?
:fffuuu:

G-man woke shepard from stasis in the Halo Saga?

Hahahahhahahahhahahahahah and also Colonel Mustard teamed up with Shepard and they found the perfect recipe for destruction coming to a cinema near you this summer.

“they tell you to test it out one of the soldiers pushes you in and you helmet falls off”

made my day …

How did he get promoted to Colonel?

^^ the quote shows one sentence. With highlighted errors (some).

A good idea written badly sounds like a bad idea.

Next time, please describe the storyline, not gameplay.

[COLOR=‘Red’]“There is a room with Combine gear” is a gameplay or level design note.

[COLOR=‘SeaGreen’]“Adrian Shephard is brought back to Earth by G-man, undergoes combinization procedure in Nova Prospekt, and then, disguised as Combine, …” is storyline description.

either he’s confused colonel with corporal, or shepard really impressed the higher ups while he was in stasis. Plus, killing the gene worm would have helped.

He’s probably getting mixed up with Stargate Atlantis, which features a Colonel Sheppard (originally Major Sheppard) as one of its main characters. (Actually he’s really Lieuntenant Colonel, but everyone on the show just shortens the title).

'Course, there’s also Mass Effect’s Commander Shepard. In fact, Sheppard/Shephard/Shepard/Shepherd seems to be a pretty popular name for fictional military types  . Come to think of it, it’s the same with O’Neill (Platoon, Seagate DSV, Stargae SG-1, etc), Carter (Spooks, Space: 1999, Stargate SG-1, etc), and Beckett (Pirates of the Caribbean, Sliders, Stargate Atlantis, etc). (Yeah, all four are used by Stargate  ).

"Ah, Corporal Shepard. It seems… apologies are in order. Our last meeting was rather abrupt and I had other more, stringent deadlines to meet so it seems you… how do you say… fell by the wayside. My employers have seen fit to re-instate you to your previous life, though the world that you left behind has changed beyond all… recognition… I dare say that a man of your… talents will find this new post a refreshing challenge, away from the corridors of the Black Mesa Research Facility.

So, Corporal… heh… Shephard, rejoin your race… or not…"

As the hallucination draws to a slow, echoed close, Shepard brushes his brow with the back of his hand. In the distance he can hear the monotoned cry of a klaxon bell. With some considerable difficulty he pushes himself out of the dry, torn seat and stumbles towards what looks like a reception desk. Using his outstretched arms to balance himself, he half-falls into a lean, waiting for someone to arrive.

After what feels like hours, a man outfitted in gear that Shepard struggled to recognise at all walked slowly towards him. As he did so, the man unhooked the cumbersome looking mask from his gear and placed it calmly on the desk. “You look like Hell, and that’ll do just fine for where you’re going.” Shepard looked slowly up at the man as he used a finger to run down a list attached to clipboard. “Shepard, right?” the man said, more of a statement than a question. “I’m your CO and your next in line for Civil Protection duty. Which is… odd, because I was sure there were no places available.” The man gave Shepard one last look over and pressed a concealed button which opened a door adjacent to the reception.

“Oh and by the way, the name’s Barney Calhoun, but to you it’s sir.”

DUM DUM DUM DUUUUUUUM

That story has promise.
But will Shepard be a good guy again, or will he finally do his role in life as an HECU solider?

My idea was that it could go either way, with two different endings:

Ending A: Shepard chooses to remain faithful to Barney when told of the Resistance. He fights the good fight but is pulled out of City 17, by the G-Man, just before the Citadel goes pop.

Ending B: Shepard becomes disillusioned with humanity’s chance of survival and fiercely declines Barney’s offer to become part of the Resistance. He rises quickly through the Combine ranks reaching Elite (fighting and killing Resistance along the way, losing more of his humanity, both physical and mental). Just before he reaches the Citadel, G-Man pulls him out citing that Shepard was the only Elite Combine with a chance at stopping Freeman.

Or something like that.

Or an ending like in the third Jedi Knight game:

Father Grigori is revealed to be a Marine sniper stationed at Black Mesa that fled to Russia in a stolen seadoo and became insane.

“Hey Shepard, let’s go fuck up all the dudes that screwed us over at Black Mesa”

Shepard ends up killing both Resistance and Combine, and eventually ends up in a Mexican standoff between himself, Gordon, and the G-man, who has threatened to terminate his contract. G-man, being the incredible force that he is, pulls Shepard out of our realm again, so that he can “learn his lesson”.

Ending C: he goes crazy and starts killing everyone and everything in sight:awesome:

I see no difference between these two endings.

In your ending Shepard was clearly of sound mind.
