They were legit, and their filenames say they’re Xen: https://lambdageneration.com/posts/hl2-episode-three-concept-art-leaked-possible-spoilers/
Well this is awesome.
lol they’re four years old
You of all people should know better. Concept art doesn’t look like anything, because it could be anything. It’s concept art.
EDIT: NVM
^whut
I’m sure this is real, there were mentions of “different, but still the same” Alyx from years ago… this looks like it.
In ep2 it is mentioned that the advisors were hatching so, in the next half life sequel we will see some hatched advisors that could be super boss like enemies.
and… look at this, fits perfectly for the hl vehicles XD…
just kiding, just kiding.
something like this should fit…but with rusty appareance
it would be cool to see those vast artic open spaces with raids and raids of Combine traslading to north, and new xen fauna. And there will a major outpost, the Kraken Base were secret things comes up. And find a place were some humans were exiled years ago and then help them to stop the combine.
The concept art is real, and as was said, irrelevant. It’s so old that there’s every chance it’s been totally scrapped at this point. Kinda cool though.
Yeah, that’s the thing. I really hope they didn’t scrap the tone. Call me crazy, but a pink dreamland with huge sea slug looking things floating around sounds pretty fucking awesome to me. HL could do with another drastic aesthetic change of pace. I think they got hyperreal and depressing out of their system with the two fucking zombie games they released.
It’s not an undisclosed source. They were on Andrea Wicklund’s Picasa account & deleted her account the day after news of it went viral. Also; that file was named ep3_xen#.jpg
Proof? There was a picture of a HL3 shirt, which was posted on Chandana Ekanayake’s twitter account (with the hashtag #ValveTrolling) saying it was of a Valve employee, but didn’t say who & didn’t show a face.
I predict you use some kind of portal technology on the Borealis to take the fight to the Combine’s home planet/base, and destroy it somehow. That would offer a really interesting, different change of environment.
I agree. I think the end of Ep3 will be on the Combine homeworld (like Xen, only even stranger)…and after you finally bring the Combine to their knees (if they have them), the G-Man returns and says, “Nicely done, Dr. Freeman. My…employers…are very keen to have a word with you. Not that you have any choice, but please, wait here. They will be seeing you…ehh…shortly.”
Fade to black, text pops up: “To Be Concluded…”
Credits roll.
I’m trying to visualise what the Combine homeworld would look like. I think you get a short glimpse of it at the end of HL2 at the top of the Citadel. Sort of like Xen, except monolithic, cold, metallic structures everywhere, floating in a vast void of space. That would be an epic conclusion to the series, in my opinion. You’ve destroyed the Combine’s headquarters on earth, closing their major means of travel. Now you find the mysterious Borealis . I’m sure we’ll definitely be seeing some strange Aperture tech on board. Any theories?
I am thinking that the Combine intercepted Mossman’s call about the Borealis and now see Aperture tech as a way to move more freely about the Earth’s surface, especially since they’re now reliant on local transportation.
You see them actually having to take a bridge in Ep2 to travel north instead of coming in through portals. Alyx assumes they’re heading for White Forest and I think they sent a contingent to White Forest, but I think the vast majority of the forces weren’t going to White Forest at all. Perhaps their final destination is the Borealis to get ahold of Aperture tech to use for themselves.
Gordon has to “destroy it” (in Eli’s final words to Gordon) so that the Combine can’t use the tech.
My opinion is that maybe three quarters of the way through the game, Gordon destroys the Borealis and it opens a super-portal above it, forcefully transporting Gordon to the Combine homeworld. There, he’s separated from Alyx (permanently?), and now he has to battle, by himself, through the Combine homeworld.
But he’s ultimately not by himself. An army of vorts have arrived to back him up and…
…perhaps this is getting silly. I’ll shut up now.
about the whole debate about episode or not

also here’s another video where Gabe explains a bit about why they’ve been so hush hush

also, I’ve been wondering if there will be a new weapon used a lot, like the crowbar for hl1 and gravity gun for hl2. Crowbar breaks things, gravity gun moves things, and new weapon…creates things? I remember a while back they found some files “weapon_icegun”, “weaponizer_concrete”, “weaponizer_liquid”, “weaponizer_metal”, and “weapon_flamethrower”. While valve said this didn’t mean anything, having something like an ice gun seems interesting. Since 3 will (presumably) be in a cold place, ice would be kinda fitting. I’m imagining a gun that can spray ice onto things, so you could make ice bridges, ice stairs, that kinda stuff. Then you could melt it with the flamethrower. It’d be cool (heh), maybe a little overpowered.
Valve will present some videos in VGA 2012, i wonder what they are going to show.
No. No no no. I want a conclusion.
the next hl sequel will left us even more confused, makin it more mysterius is what valve always do.
