Half-life 1 map maker?

Im planning on making some maps for half-life 1 but do not know where to start. I have searched google for how to create Half-life 1 maps but still cannot find a map maker for it.
Does anyone know of any software to create some maps?

EDIT

Well i got it working and started on a map henit crashed. I then tried to reload it and i again had to set up the files and crap. After doing this twice ive given up and sticking to half-life 2 map making on SDK

Thanks for the support though!!

it’s called hammer editor … and it’s pretty hard at first , and at second …

Ah thank you i got it now!

No, you need the hl1 version of hammer, it’s easier to set up for GoldSource. Just google hammer download.

Hammer 3.5 (latest build for HL) and links to other tools
Helpful forum and tutorials.
Oh, you’ll also need Zoner’s HL tools for turning the RMF/MAP into a BSP so you can play it, and the HL 3.5 FGD file. It helps if you extract the entire “models” folder from your PAK or GCF so you can see the models.

Good thing about hammer is that with a little reading you can have a play around with it. Then, when you get interested you can get started on the heavy stuff. Which is where I got stuck… I lack the commitment I think :stuck_out_tongue:

I have had a little trouble with this quite recently. Read the help provided with the Hammer editor and here is an extremly useful link.

As i’ve said read the help provided, and do everthing in detail. Also you will run into problems as it seems to be talking to people without Steam and its quite different. If you need any help just PM me.

BUMP.
I have Hammer Editor 3.5 and want to make hl1 maps. However I do not know how to set it up with steam’s ‘new’ file structure. Tutorials have the old way but idk what now. help anyone?

You’ll have to use GCFScape to extract the wads from half-life.gcf, same with the fgd and any other files you need.

where are the fgd files located?

If you want to be able to run HL from the editor, you’ll need to tell Hammer to run steam, and then set the parameters to run HL’s Steam ID with any additional game parameters you want (such as sv_cheats 1 and developer 1)

I also recommend The Compilator for final compiles (you can set a bunch of settings such as wadinclude, smooth and various other standard compile tool settings easily within the GUI) And SHLT for your compile tools (It’s an upgraded version of ZHLT)
