Graphics better than HL2?

So after looking at the latest screenshots that Raminator was so kind enough to share, and having been playing HL2 recently… I have to say that I think Black Mesa looks better. I also know that Black Mesa is developed on the Orange Box version of Source.

Now, rather than this just be a “Oooooh, shiny” thread (though the BM screenshots are shiny), I wanted to ask the community/devs…

What was the difference between the HL2 version of the source engine and the OB edition? Was there a lot of effort to convert?

I realize this is probably old ground, so please point me towards the thread that already covered this if you would. I would appreciate it.

I downloaded a special program that tightens the graphics of all games, specially the graphics of level 17.

I have download many mesa graphics in my time but none as before can half-life for the new 2

I downloafed several graphics for HL2 but they were shooped. I could tell from some of the pixels and seeing many shoops in my time.

The Orange Box switched to a particle system, and allowed for multicore rendering. So there’s less clipping, and, multicore rendering is pretty self-supportive, I’d say.

So when Valve was first on the beginning of HL2 they had about 9 graphics and the engine was all sauce and shit. But then Gabe was like, yo son, you best be putting some moar graphics in and step this shit up to the shit bro. And then the engine became orange with flavour and extra graphics such that it has now got maybe even as much as 15 graphics plus as well it also has an orange box.

yeah, if anything, multicore rendering is very NOT self supportive, since trying to activate it in mods that don’t specifically support it can seriously kill your framerate and cause some gamecrashing glitches with actions as simple as turning on your flashlight.
