Grand Theft Auto V

I’m not talking about engine “improvements” until I see them on PC.

As for gameplay improvements… Trust me, they can do that.

I think many of those gameplay improvements are directly linked to engine improvements in animation, scripting and whatnot, but modders are persistent and clever folks, so who knows what they can do.

But yeah, no amount of ENB tricks will be able to recreate the improved lighting engine in GTA V, amongst other stuff.

if the Z-fighting and distance pop-in werent a problem, i’d say this would look better than gta V

^still a WIP, but its release is nearing as we speak

and Gta V is quite frankly pretty low-res, this can be better witnessed if you port over the models to pc IV (they ported cars, guns, playermodels)
GTA V’s graphics are literally being carried by their lighting techniques, their texture work is whats expected of a previous gen console

at least with PC IV, there are high-res textures available in addition to Lighting mods like ENB or ICEnhancer (which if configered properly, can give you this; <–note this is a ENB config from way back, makes foggy days look photorealistic; it is almost certainly guaranteed ICE 2.5 may look better, especially with the rest of the weather conditions as well)

Honestly, the GTA V engine will look even better that that on PC with no mods, just higher resolution everything, expanded rendering detail and distance, AF and AA.

There are moments playing the game on PS3 where the quality of the lighting is very close to that in the video, obviously just lower res.

Yeah at least it’s not rendering all 3D graphics at 800x480 like the PS3 version of NFS Undercover for example.

Well… PC gamers can eventually play GTA V with a PS3 emulator. It may take a long time, but at least developers are working on it, and they are making great progress.

No, the game will come for PC. There’s no reason to think otherwise.

Besides, PS3 emulation on PC will take longer than you might think. That fucked up Cell architecture will be really fucking hard to emulate properly on a PC that does not have a dozen CPU cores at least.

Fucking finally, Rockstar. Now to just wait and see if the game isn’t a shitty port this time. I’m guessing not but you never know.

I believe this will be a good port. Max Payne 3 was pristine and it was ported by the same guys who did GTA4 PC, so they know their shit now.

Maybe it’ll help ease some of my disappointment with Watch Dogs.

Ready,
Set,
Start modding!

lets see:

-mods comfirmed (consoles have them for crying out loud); maybe steam workshop integration with social club???
-no GFWL comfirmed (it ded)
-next gen consoles use pc architecture = better ports(?)
-most likely no more secuROM (steam DRM should do it good)
-free DLC updates (new guns and cars free), proper self-contained Expansions like Episodes from Liberty City comfirmed???

hard to believe they can screw up the pc port, especially if Max Payne 3 pc is anything to go by

It’s going to use Social Club, not Steam, not secuROM, etc.

Look at this comparison between the next-gen and the last-gen of GTAV I found from FP.

edit: See the difference?
edit 2: The left side of the next-gen came from the E3 trailer this year. While the right-side of the picture came from the last-gen.

Not really, can you add some red circles?

Is that better? Just updated my last post.

I see last gen and next gen. How does it look on current gen?

EDIT: Also pls more circles.

Ok.

The difference between the last and next gen, is the textures on the last gen are low-res compare to the next gen on the left side of the picture. Also, they added some new models (e.g. grass) for next gen.

Is it better?

Put it under a microscope for an in-depth analysis, otherwise they won’t believe you.

Not much of a circle tbh but I guess that’ll do. Also, where is Trevor? It’s hard to make a proper comparison without him to give a sense of scale.
