Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

^Exactly the Point!

The flash is over before it can even register, but in a pic, especially when its at its strongest, its kinda hard not to miss. In game its gonna rock, so there.

That was the blog I meant, but there was more in there about deadlines, too.

I think It would be cool to have a tactical laser attachment on the glock.
But that’s just me.

do the big monsters when you first chase them and fire alot of them show any sign of health dmg [ u actually hurting them? ] if not , i suggest making them walk slower or make more sounds and bleed when you carve into their flesh

The crowbar will never get stuck in the headspace of a zombie correct? THAT would suck.

Cooking grenades is realistic and gives you a tactical advantage. Not knowing when it will explode leaves you frantically lobbing grenades without cooking them, usually ending in a fail. I think there should be some type of “clicking” for the grenade. If anyone’s played Return to Castle Wolfenstein or Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, when you “cook” a grenade, it clicks it off for you, getting to a higher pitched sound every second, and it clicks four times, then expldes. If they implemented a sound to determine how cooked the grenade was, that’d be cool, or like a progress bar. Or, you could have it like this, may be more work than I’m thinking it would be, but:

Difficulties-
Easy: Cooking a grenade shows the progress bar and the clicking sound.
Medium: Just the clicking sound applies
Hard: No sounds, just count in your head and pray for a miracle.

Have random tanks from L4D come into Black Mesa and completely rape you if you’re killing too many scientists. B)

Here’s something that’s always bugged me about both iterations of HL. No idea if this counts as a “minor” suggestion, but…

Both times that you get access to the HEV suit, you step up to the alcove that it rests in and poof you’re wearing it. You might see your hands flexing in their newfound gloves, and you get the AI describing booting up, but there’s no transition between suitless and armored.

Would it be feasible to add a little animation to this part? Just something to show actually donning the suit, rather than having it just instantly materialize over your body? If not, could the suit be rendered in the alcove in some sort of “open” state, wherein Ivan-- er, Gordon would step into it and have it seal up around him?

Add props/photos etc that in Half-Life 2 should remind you Half-Life 1
like the photo of all the employees

This.

Although my 'nade skillz in HL1 are bloody good from many hours of playing the original DoD. Jump-throwing cooked grenades so they explode right in an hgrunt’s face is somewhat satisfying

Then they would have to add the auto shotgun

True. But what do you think about walking on a medkit and get healed ?

I tried to walk on my cloth but nothing happend… (If it works, we should think about the order : underwear first, pants… Otherwise we’ll look like idiots)

I think the hands flexing are enough, going into a whole animation of getting into suits is getting alot like Far Cry 2; where everything was animated without any popping around. Personally I just want to get the HEV suit and get outta there.

Yeah I think the HL2 “admire” animation would do it just nicely.

When you get into the HEV we now have an animation where the integrated waste disposal system inserts a catheter into Gordon’s urethra.
We wanted to compensate for the fact that by the end of Ep2 he has been awake for a week straight and hasn’t used the bathroom once.

he slept under rocks t’il the start of ep1 , and prolly he floated a while in the train in ep2 start

omg guys dat’s an aewsum new wepon idea!!!111 u cud call it weapon_turd lololololol!

Just press the P button and he pees, animation and everything.
Try it.

:fffuuu: Oh, my eyes!

Really, though — getting the suit for the first time seemed a little, I dunno, anticlimactic. What I had in mind with the request wasn’t anything overblown and drawn out, just briefly show the upper part of the suit actually being drawn over your head, something like that. With the effort that was put into the original (and the sequel) on making them immersive and showing everything that happens from Gordon’s view, having the SUV suit (hee) just simply pop into place seems to break the metaphor a little.

It’s like the fantasy RPGs that really suck you in with the story and characterization, only to have a randomly-encountered snake drop a pile of gold and a magic dagger when killed. I mean, where was it carrying them?

in it’s urethra
