They should leave Gordon’s closet like it is in Half-Life 1
The baby picture is great ! XD
It might have something to do with
- Putting the HEV suit on is not a climax of the story.
- Back in 1998, all FPS games accepted the “walk over to pick” mechanism.
- Doing it like this was the only way how to allow Gordon full view freedom and movement freedom at the same time. If he were to actually dress into the suit, then the game would have to freeze him at the location; but if the game froze him in the location, it would have to force him to look down, otherwise the player wouldn’t see what’s going on (imagine looking straight forward and putting on your trousers – you don’t actually see them, right?), so for a pretty anticlimactic moment, you would be violating a fundamental game principle…
The only case where that is climactic is if Gordon goes Commando… Or is a woman.
He wasn’t going commando already? Hmmm…
“Good Morn- GREAT EINSTEINS GHOST! WHERE ARE YOUR PANTS?!” “I uh…lost them.” “Good god man! Just…go…and put on your HEV Suit! And Hurry!” thinks to self: I think Gordon was a little too happy this morning…
Ah, well. Call it a personal quirk, then. I’ve always been irked a little by the ‘instant pick-up’ rule on FPSs. I’d like to see one where you have to press some sort of button to pick up things (like some do), and have this trigger an animation where you actually pick it up, rather than just having said item vanish from the screen.
I picked up all sorts of Morrowind mods that focused on making the game more realistic, so what can you expect?
Crysis.
Can there be a sniper crow bar for long ranged bludgeoning?
if you can build that in real life , maybe they will take this question seriously :-?
Those crafty Canadians, always thinking outside the box.
WHAT WARE THEY THINKING?
Maybe Gordon is canadian
I think he might be a Nazi…remember the ‘blow up the bridge’ scene in Blast Pit?
roflol
It all makes sense now
Relevant.
It’s either me or there is a mouse or something that is part of that weapon
How about shortening “On A Rail” to about, hmm, 30% its size?
Fahking chapter.
Re: co-op. We haven’t abandoned it but we are definitely working to finish the SP game first. If we need to cut co-op to meet our deadline I expect we will release it later. The upside is that you wouldn’t have to wait for us to finish co-op before you can play SP, and, after BMS is released there would still be something big to look forward to and we can incorporate feedback from the SP release into co-op.
I hear a can of worms being opened.
And On a Rail could be made into a better chapter with some clever enemy placement, and much much less lighting. I was surprised Valve didn’t try and give that level a much creepier claustrophobic atmosphere, with some easy enemy around corner/behind crates/etc scares.
