it wont change the atmosphere at all. Its only a minor movement tweak. Also i’m not the one to judge wether its easy to pull off or not but if it can be done, I think it would be well worth the effort. but thats IF it can be pulled off. I’m not suggesting a complete Mirror’s Edge revolution here, only some minor movement tweaking within the flowgraph.
Are you kidding? That’s a major change to the game mechanics. It’s Half-Life. Stop trying to make it something it’s not.
Oh, I misunderstood. I thought you wanted the crosshair to be free-floating just like the gun and arms. If it was just a visual change, and it wasn’t a huge ‘float’ zone, then I wouldn’t mind it.
No… I think that’s what he means. Basically Wii ‘Red Steel’ controls.
Think of goldeneye 64 when you had to go into aiming mode and you moved the crosshair around the screen. I think that’s the sort of thing he’s talking about.
And yes, I’d have to say that is a significant game mechanic change, and doesn’t fit in the half-life universe. In general, I don’t like that mechanic actually, it’s quite inconvenient. and in RL you should always be looking where you are shooting (down the site really, but that would be a pain in a video game haha.) We’ll just assume Gordon didn’t have enough experience to properly shoot a gun haha.
A small thing that bugged me after seeing your models for scientists and zombie scientists was that on the scientists, the name tag was on the [COLOR=‘Red’]left but for their zombie counterparts, the name tag was on the right. I’m not to sure that as someone was getting attacked by a headcrab, they decided to switch their name tag to the other side of the lab coat that they were wearing ^_^. I know that those models may not be the finished models but please keep that in mind before the become final models. If that’s what you were going for, then please disregard this message. The scientist and zombies look fantastic, in fact, the whole thing looks fantastic, can’t wait to see it, hopefully before Christmas.
EDIT: Oops haha
Where is it ever stated that the HEV has nano-technology installed? In fact none of the tech behind the suit is ever explained, even the popular theory that the power stations strengthen the suit fibres is pure speculation.
As for this whole free-aim crap, it’s the same as people who want iron-sights. Neither elements belong in a Half-Life style game.
:fffuuu:
Wait… Doesn’t that already make sense?
I don’t see the problem here.
Can’t you people see? What self respecting zombie would wear a name tag on the right?
He meant to say that on the live scientists the name tag is on their right and on the zombies the name tag is on their left
Don’t be silly, Leo.

/speechless
The devs are already aware of that problem
looks like some people over here just don’t seem to understand where I’m coming from. oh well، I’ll leave it at that. by the way، where are the modders? I’m sure they know what I’m tallking about when I say free-aim.
Well anyway، I do have a few more suggestions but I don’t think they’re even worth mentioning…actually let me re-phrase that, Im starting to think twice now that my idea just got tossed aside like a piece of scrap
Whoa, don’t take it so personally. Your idea isn’t total rubbish, it just doesn’t fit into what the mod is trying to re-create. What if Black Mesa added an inventory system, free-roaming and billions of alternate endings to the game? Sure, it’d be pretty awesome but it would in no way resemble Half Life.
will it be possible to play this game without the hud/xhair?
I much prefer games that dont have this. With hl2/ep1/2 I was able to do this with a few commands will this be the same with BMS? if so awesomo! roll on release date.
if not. ah well. roll on release date
i’m pretty sure that command is still there.
