Hmmm, what’s worse? Changing the date to go with the weather or leaving it to keep the resonance cascade date canon?
Hi, before I begin, I’d just like to say I’m really appreciating the hard work you guys are putting in to revive the game that hooked my love for the half-life saga.
I was recently re-playing Half-life 1 when I noticed, aside from the already deceased Black Mesa staff and soldiers, there had been little evidence of any survivors and thier activities. I was thinking of (if it hasnt already been applied) something along the lines of L4D style scribblings and notes by survivors, or even the ratmans comments found in Portal being implemented in BMS.
Aside from giving the player some extra entertainment, it would be a great means to show the player the bigger picture of whats really going on in the facility, since I always got the subtle feeling the events of the Resonanc Cascade directly revolved around Gordan Freeman.
Something like a scientist etching on a wall “Heading to the surface! Getting help!” or “If you can read this Frank, I’m at the canteen with food and ammo I can’t hold out too long!”. I know many comments like these are told to the player by other NPCs but I felt implementing something like this could really give a richer feel to the story of Half-life.
But I’m sure this has either been suggested or implemented. Cheers, can’t wait for the release!
Actually, that would be a nice addition. If it hasn’t been implemented yet.
But only at the end of the game, when BM personnel knows grunts are here to kill them and that the massive portal breach don’t stop spamming aliens.
Valve likes to do things to show little stories, like corpses lying against a wall next to a discarded pistol or and old rebel hideout which is full of zombies, a headcrab shell and supplies. My personal favourite is the ash pile in Highway 17 showing three dead people that had been cleared out of a nearby house by some Overwatch.
Hoepfully the BM team has continued this tradition, whether it be in a tiny detail such as some scattered papers and an unhooked phone or a full scene such as the darkened room full of executed scientists in Blue Shift.
My favorite was the RPG Cache in Episode 2. Even though it was absolutely ridiculous, haha.
hmmpf…i guess i have to make the walk of shame to the top of mt. loser with the crown of awkward social situations on my head and never return…
No, that’s a bit unnecessary. There are more loser-ish forumites than you that get that pleasure.
yeah plus the walk of shame implies you got laid :3
Don’t worry, at least you know you were wrong, so i(or we) could forgive you.
:retard:

:|:what::facepalm::hmph:>

…:what: now tell me… does it REALLY snow all the fucking time in the winter? i know it CAN snow in some deserts, but this is pushing it a little too far
Excellent point. And by the positioning of the furniture it’s further implied that they attempted to make a last stand. Shame there weren’t any bullet holes.
Some of Valve’s small stories were really quite subtle, even down to the way that people’s bodies were positioned. In Sandtraps in the tunnel with the zombies, you find the rebel hideout with two bodies - one male, one female, who look as though they’re holding hands. Whether it was coincidence or not I don’t know, but you could guess that they’d chosen to kill themselves rather than be taken by the headcrabs that are in the room.
Yeah, I guess all I can do is strongly support your suggestion. Valve were good at dotting these small details around, so I would hope that BM are on the case.
^ I agree
Thank you. I wish people would do the research first.

A definition which includes Antarctica. I thought that was common knowledge.
:s cratcheshead:
i kinda knew that… but you guys are right. sry. didn’t mean to be a dick.
This is a quick blurb from the HL wiki… “…a scene in the game shows such a scientist (Kleiner looking type) wielding a shotgun, which mirrors a Half-Life 2 scene in which Kleiner does the same.”
…And?
