Wow… that must be the thousenth time that question is asked. Watch the trailer again, putting careful atention to that scene in particular. Now… got it? No? Well, the scene is massively edited, with bullet-time or something, for the sake of awesomeness. Sounds included. So when you’re playing the game, the MP5 will sound as it ought to.
I think devs have already answered that multiple times, from the very day the trailer was launched 'till now. It must be exasperating. Is that difficult to notice that the whole scene is… well, in different timescales?

Also, the MP5 in Black Mesa is an unsilenced MP5A while the MP5 from Half Life is a silenced MP5 SD.
Maybe they’re using the MP5A model with the MP5 SD sound…? O_o

I think the portal sprites should look like this.
In game, that teleporter always faces you, so a sprite would work, the red glowy things on the outiside weave in and out and spin, the image in the middle is a pre-rendered still of the destination (Not real-time rendering).
That would be perfect for the Half-Life portals.
Would be good in that lambda core puzzle.
Err, you might want to actually play Half-Life before saying that. Maybe you were missing the MP5 wav shot file or something? Certainly wasn’t silenced.

Actually he’s right. The view model was a silenced MP5-SD. While the world model is an MP5A5. Although the weapon sound wasn’t that of a silenced weapon it is a game sir.
No it wouldn’t because then it wouldn’t be much of a puzzle. Also I believe the devs said they were not going to make portals/teleports that you could see through to the other side.

Compare that to the BMS MP5 and the BMS version seems more “silenced” than the original.
EDIT: The model looks like the silenced MP5, then again, it has a grenade launcher added to it O_o
And by look-through portals, I think they meant like the portals from “Portal”, my example above is a sprite in it’s game and is pre-rendered, portals in “Portal” are real-time. People disliked the lambda core blindly-running into portals, I would have thought my proposal would solve the issue.

like I said it may not sound exactly like the silenced MP5 but it sure looks like it.

Time to start bitching. It’s not a silenced MP5, it’s a suppressed MP5. The correct term is suppressor, as silencers don’t actually exist. And the classic kinda smoothed, softened “silenced” sound (a la Counter-Strike) doesn’t happen, a suppressed gun still sounds quite staccato.
