Some of the original gameplay trailers for Half-Life had silenced-MP5 sound-effects.
Compare the HL MP5 sound to a regular mp5 sound and a MP5 sd and you’ll find that the released version has much more realistic “silenced” MP5 sounds.
The term silencer and supressor are interchangable, although supressor is the correct term.
They work by muffling the sound of the expanding gases from a gun, thus lowered the noise and greatly reducing the muzzle flash. Howver, they do nothing to stop the “crack” of a bullet as it breaks the sound barrier. If using ammunition that travels less than that of the speed of sound it is possible to have a very quiet gun. MP5s with intergrated supressors and subsonic ammuntion give off no noise other than the bolt clicking back and forth.
HL1 used an MP5 with a supressor on it, but the actual firing sound isn’t silenced at all. Maybe Valve thought having one of the main game weapons silenced would be kind of dull.
Sorry about the late comment on this, but I kinda disagree with the idea. That’s just too Portal-like, and while that’s not a bad thing, I personally thought the original portals looked awesome as they were. I loved jumping into them, endless fun and a weird, shivering feeling all together.
Since when portals are boyfriends ?
@ MP5SD topic
Who cares since BM have it’s own german/russian MP5GP25 without suppressor.
I don’t really care I just saw someone being told his/her information was incorrect when infact it was correct and I decided to stick up for him/her.
u need to make a ALT attack for the crowbar by the end of it like stabing
See this thread for information about weapon changes: https://www.blackmesasource.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78
In there you’ll find the following:
Although crowbar alt-fires are shunned for good reason, I admit it’d be interesting if secondary-fire did the same as primary-fire but with a different view animation. You know, for the psychological effect… the illusion of free-will…
For the sake of justice and truth, I’ll forgive you :freeman:
I should? Ok, I’ll get right to it!
Oh wait…
Not should, you need to. It’s that important.
DO EET KERESH!
Maybe I should. I am after all not[/SIZE] a member of the dev team.

This is the MP5A5, suppressed and equipped with a grenade-launcher, as it was in Half Life.
What’s weird, though, is that the Half Life v_model of the MP5 has the fore grip of what looks like an MP5SD.
The BMS MP5 actually exists, so that’s all that really matters.
Have you done it yet? Don’t make me ban you, cunter.
Is there going to be something holding up the 2nd stage Emmiters?
Re: The helmet: Keep in mind that the HEV suit could fit a small projector in there, one that projects onto glasses (many scientists have them). Also, should the helmet be missing but the holder be in its place? And just possibly, some remote comment about its vacancy?
I doubt it. According to the trailer, no. But that would be nice.
[EDIT: Never mind. :ninja:'d]
