Got a Quick Suggestion? - Small suggestions that don't need their own thread

Civil Protection launched a flair to summon backup in Route Canal.
Overwatch Soldiers launched a flair to summon a Dropship in Anticitizen One.

What’s easier? Running over to the radio, calling it in, giving co-ordinates, and asking for help; or shooting a flare for the nearest ait unit to see?

I don’t know, I admit I don’t have much knowledge about the logistics of calling in gunship attacks with flares. I guess depends whether or not you’re talking realism, or “looks cool”. Sure, why not.

For the HUD … i suggest they should stick to the original … but with a little touch by the devs … the new one used in the “old school like the old school” video it’s just not right (my oppinion), am i the only one who thinks that? what are your suggestions ? https://img691.imageshack.us/img691/1043/newmp5.jpg

I’m with you on this.

Just stick to the orginal HUD format. None of that “health cross” icon for your health. Imo, it just makes it feel like preschool and I must have a picture to determine what the numbers mean.

u mad

Because a weapon that could actually have a grenade launcher attached to it was too logical for Valve, so they put in an MP5 with a grenade launcher, which made perfect levels of sense for them, along with the shotgun firing out of the magazine and MP7 that shoots grenades without even having anything on it that looks like it could.

I don’t think Valve is known for it’s accuracy with weapons.

:hmph:

fuckin pissed, bro.

…and the secondary fire on the shotgun actually fires two shots in quick succession (something the real world auto shotgun it’s based off, I forget the name, can do, so far as I’m aware) not two at the same time.

Well, it shoots in rapid sucession in Half-life. I think there’s just two in HL2.
EDIT: And it’s a SPAS-12, since you were wondering.

I also liked the original half-life menu but I remember a dev saying they were going with the dynamic backgrounds like HL :s ource, HL2 and episodes had. If I’m not mistaken it’s a moot point.

Want a hug?

Yep, we’ll have background maps like the other Source SP games…they should also have a flat/static image for people running in -dev mode (which may help menu loading times for those of you with ancient computers)

Good. I mean, apart from being a given as a Source mod, it kind of makes sense in the sense that it’s a recreation of HL1 on the Source engine. The main menu should give away the joint cooperation of those two concepts.

I’m pretty sure that flare was just used to indicate that the unit had spotted Freeman. Rather than being used to specifically call in air support it was fired to alert everyone to the enemy’s position.

Wasn’t it indoors as well?

No, you were outside.

I have another suggestion to make … its about the snarks … when u throw them to attack they have like 20 seconds of life and then they blow up … but when u can hold them in your arm as long as u like … my suggestion is to give snarks an amount of health (now u must try to kill them ,not just hide/run and wait for them to explode) … bcuz it doesnt make any sens. this is my oppinion  … what’s your ? they are really easy to kill in hl1 … so its not that hard …

I’ll give you the official explanation. When Snarks are released, they go into a frenzy and after about 20 seconds they completely overload themselves and burst.

While they do show signs of aggression and distress while being held, they cannot run, or bounce around and therefore do not get so worked up.

As for giving them health and making it so that you have to kill them, forgive me for being blunt but that is a really shit idea.

  1. Snarks are fast and intentionally difficult to shoot
  2. In multiplayer, having hundreds of the things squeaking and bouncing around waiting for someone try and shoot them would get annoying as Hell.
  3. Unnecessary strain on your system if there is hundreds of them running around at once.
  4. Snarks are fucking irritating.

Thanks … now everything makes sense.
